One 'problem' with making up your own cables is that a decent crimping tool is quite expensive for what might be a one off job. Until last year I bought the pre-made extensions and they're very good for the cost although the heatshrink doesn't always line up. It takes me 6-8 hours to make up and sleeve a set of extensions and a bit longer to fully sleeve a modular PSU. I've never been sure whether the pre-made ones are machine made or hand made. If handmade they're a bargain price for the time that goes into them.
If they could pull 90$ off the price of the PSU and sell it without cables; I'd be happy, course, it would probably catch some people out, but it should be marked up clearly enough on the retailers website that it lacks cables. Would cut down on packaging for the PSU, too.
That makes a lot of sense. Might be worth mentioning in the Corsair forum although I bet they wouldn't reduce the price by that much.
Can I just say, Scan listed that ETA right after I asked them for it... Feelin' good Edit: dammit they haven't put the eta on! Email I got this morning said 1 week away from being in stock
Another message today regarding the cables from Scan - 'Dominic Thanks for your query. I am currently looking into this with our purchasing team. As soon as we have some information on this/these product(s) we shall inform you accordingly. Best regards, Scan Computers'
