    Hi

I just bought new RAM in expectation of an upgrade coming soon, but installed it in my old Athlon XP2200+ in the meantime. I bought a matched pair of Corsair XMS Pro 4000 DDR Modules, but when I look at the info supplied by CPU-Z it says that they're PC3700 not PC4000. The Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7VAX. Have I been sold dodgy RAM? I got it from a reputable dealer, and it appears genuine, with the holograms and logos etc. It's definitely got PC4000 (DDR500) written on it, so why is it being reported by CPU-Z as DDR400? :wallbash:

    I'm greatly puzzled!

your mobo probably can't record speeds that high (being only a DDR400 mobo, correct me if im wrong)

corsair PC4000 is PC3700 chips selected especially for their ability to run at PC4000 speeds and marked and accordingly

technically what you have is some PC3700 (which runs at DDR466 stock) that overclocks especially well

    Hmmm

Well... as for the first reply... i'm now on a Asus K8V Deluxe and it still reports as PC3700, so maybe the second guy is right... it's now running at 426MHz anyway, and survives the prime95 torture test A OK... so I@m happy.

    i am indeed right
    why so doubtful? :)

i checked on it with corsair in the past when i got mine, they are re-branded pc3700 modules, which run at PC4000
