Ok I got this segate 120GB HDD last summer. Now the pc it is in witch is this one is making a weird sound like bouncing or berings. I doubt its my cpu fan. I really hope it isnt my hardrive cuase it was bought OEM. I leave my computer on 24/7. Should I just shut it down for awhile. Maybe its heat. Im really worrying dont wanna loose another one. I dont have the cash to buy another one and support a case mod and 3 different programming projects.
Even the Seagate OEM drives carry the five year warranty-that contraversy got resolved. It could possibly be a fan vibrating in your case-but I doubt its your hard drive. At worst though, you can get a replacement, as its still under warranty
all u have to do is call or go to the place you baught the hdd from and tell them what happened and then thell probably test it and if it works abit they tell u its ok and u leave with the same skrewed drive or if its ****ED they give u another 1 .
Hmm yea I do think its the drive. I got it from tigerdirect. Hmm everytime the status light on the hardrive lights up it maks a sound like one of the disks it sliding on something. IDK I just hope it ainte broken.
It sounds like purringbut not constant like purr then nothing then purr but slowly. Plus Ive noticed my comp has gotton alot slower and 4 days ago it crashed and thats the frist time it crashed since ive owned it.
Hard drive diagnostics for your HDD can be found here. The manufacturers are in alphabetical order. Run these before you ask for an RMA, because if it's something simple, you don't have to lose all your data.
