Just got my new rig up and running, i'm new to the whole dual core + 64 bit scene, but i'm running vista 64 now.

I'm not sure if im overclocking correctly but do you think I could do anything to improve these results, as I noticed toms hardware managed to run theirs at 3.3?

NOTE: i'm running a 5000+ Black Edition on air cooling (arctic freezer).
I might be able to lower the vcore slightly, havent fully tested that yet.

edit: do I need to somehow get the "HT link" higher, how do I do that, what does it do ?

HT or hypertransport is the link between the CPU and the RAM. Since you haven't changed the FSB there should be no reason to change it (you can't raise it anyway)

well you have overclocked it by the multiplier, try now rasing the Bus Speed, this will need voltage increases of the northbridge and CPU.
Also, I believe the HT Link wants to be lower.
PS, how low are your temps!

I thought that was quite low, is coretemp reading incorrectly ?

i'm having trouble running it any quicker, am I using the wrong settings?

    CPU --- Multiplier --- Vcore --- Northbridge --- Result
    200 ----- x15 -------- 1.4v ------ AUTO --------- OK
    220 ----- x15 -------- 1.475v ---- 1.275v ------- Wont Boot
    220 ----- x15 -------- 1.5v ------ 1.375v ------- Wont Boot
    220 ----- x15 -------- 1.5v ------ 1.450v ------- Wont Boot

because, at least for me, that's ridiculously low on the northbridge! I swear mine is set at 1.95. So set your NB to about 1.8 or 1.9, CPU at about 1.45 and try that.

    even with the NB raised?

1.575 is high and not needed, it will be the NB that needs to be around 1.9 (I'm slightly in the same boat as you, same processor but non BE)

oh right (I didn't read it, just found it) try and find other reviews or something. I usually look to find other forums or people in the same boat as myself, otherwise, I can't help anymore.

is it a possibility that it's because im running on air instead of water (I cant afford new blocks for my watercooling)

I know toms hardware had it running @ 3.3 on air, but they might just have got lucky with the right cpu + board.

I wouldn't have said so, but it does depend on your chip

try increasing the Bus speed by small incriments until you hit a wall.

one more problem I have, my new graphics card (XFX 8800GTX XXX) is supposed to run at:

    GPU 630mhz
    Mem 2000mhz

    by default.

but GPU-Z says "Memory: 1000mhz", am I supposed to be doubling that number or something ?

yeah, I can't remember the ins and outs but it's double that rate (I think because it's DDR)
