I woke my monitor up by moving the mouse, opened up a web browser, and little yellow-tinted splotches popped up everywhere, then my computer locked up. When I reset my computer, it wouldn't get past POST (saying it couldn't find my keyboard, since I'm using a USB one, even though the BIOS is set to look for a usb keyboard), and half the monitor was blue-striped, with the text still showing up.... I noticed 2 fans were not running, and am assuming heat caused it (New Mexico heat + swamp cooler = way too hot). I figured I'd ask here instead of extreem cooling since 1. this is obviously a hardware problem, and 2. overclockers probably have more experience with heat than extreem coolers (unless they aren't good at it anyway) I just wanted to know so I can decide if I should be adding a blowhole, an extra fan, or just make sure the 2 back fans work properly. (I just plugged them in and let the computer sit for a few hours and now everything seems to be going fine)
Sounds like you've just answered your own question Cutting more holes for fans is not always the way to go. A clear and defined path for airflow will in most cases always beat overkill. Keep yr eye on the system for a while longer and then post back, but im sure everything will be hunky dory.
Well, I plugged the back 2 fans in, and after a few hours, it did the same thing. More details here: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=679406#post679406 (I figured it has officially turned into an extreem cooling question)
