Very interesting. To be honest this does seem like a good change. It would help on public servers too when half the players dont bother to communicate with eachother, we will automatically get to see an "enemy spooted" type object.

I am looking forward to this change and the "spotter" idea seems interesting too, perhaps someoen on an eco with just a deagle could be a good spotter, not being able to snipe and all.

But will the enemy remain on the radar from the moment they are spotted? Or will they disappear again if they run off?

i would hope that as soon as they are hidden that they leave the radar...

one thing i have always wanted to see was the ability to purchase a map that would appear in the radar.

I think that they remain on the radar for a brief period of time.

I'm inclined to say...that sucks. I'm a regular CS player, and there are quite a few different things you can already do to alert a friend to an enemy's presence.

I guess realisticly though, if someone is under my(or any other half decent players name) crosshair for long enough to the name to come up, either they're getting killed or I am, probably within the next second or two.

I hope there will be an option to turn this off.

There are a lot more issues that need to be sorted before they start messing about with core aspects of the game IMO.

I've only recently started playing CS:S (like last weekend) and, to be fair, it does sound like a good way for players without mikes to relay information to other team members ('cos let's face it if they typed it, by the time they finished they'd be dead).

Good. Not enough people use the radar anyway, this will encourage more people to use it. Though it will give the wallhaxz0rs yet another excuse, "I saw you in the radar!"

big whoops, another little dot on my radar, what color is it gonna be? im not gonna be too happy about it. for things like competitive scrims, its not gonna matter, youll hear it on vent/TS the same time as you see it in your radar.

TBH, I never really used my radar back when I played. I relied more on my headphones then anything else.

Radar is very useful to avoid TKing. It helps with those split second decisions on whether to shoot or not when running round a corner leaving you face to face with another player. Anyone that doesn't use it is either going to TK, play on servers without FF, or waste time deciding whether to shoot or not - all of which are bad :p

It'll be interesting to see what changes this makes to the gameplay, as spec said there are ways to alert your team mates of enemies and they can see where you are on the radar as the radio makes you flash. This will certainly help some of the public servers though where you often get the solo player who refuses to play as a team and doesn't communicate at all!

Source sucks, maps suck, feel of it sucks, it just wasnt made for competitive play, if you like CS you stick with 1.6 end of really and for me this is point proven.

Sounds interesting, I can't tell yet if it's going to be a good or a bad thing. Hopefully it can be turned off (for clan matches or "old skool" servers, etc). If there is an outrage, Valve can always scrap the new radar at a later date.

A bitter purist, for his inability to play Source?

I wouldn't say Source sucks. It's just a bit different. And how could the maps suck? They're essentially the same ones, with updated graphics and physics. And with stuff like HDR, it gives you nothing but more tactical strategies to employ - and so should this radar.

How does HDR help to employ 'tactical strategies'? Is it now a strategy to dazzle the enemy with a sun light effect?
