It doesn't, and everyone who knows they can turns it off. HDR is definately one of the silly things in CSS.

The radar is a good thing like on BF2. Come on lets think about it, if like me you have voice on mute because of the kids that think its funny screaming or making stupid noises and swearing all day then you dont get to hear the real players helping by giving grid locations on where enemy are hiding or camping. Them coming up on your radar when they have been spotted will be good for you to get campers.

How I play CS: Audio Cues. Wait for the enemy to come to you, lay waste to said enemy, grin as they get all mad at you.

How this will change CS: Your other teammates will be more valuable as scouts. If someone sees that last guy, everyone will friggin' finally know where to look. During the rest of the game though, people will become even less dependant on the all important audio cues and probably get worse at the game.

    Pure speculation of course.

Since I'm deaf, I rely on radar to find out where the enemy could be when I notice my teammate's dot on the radar is killed....very helpful in fy-Pool party map :thumb:

Well, it adds to realism, but makes it harder. Of course it's not fair for half of the players to have it off since they won't be dazzled by light, but I wouldn't call it silly by any means. People just don't like having to deal with the game becoming harder due to added realism.

I think if you stand in front of a light source, it would give you a slight advantage, seeing if everybody had HDR turned on, they'd be semi-blinded for a second, while you wouldn't be.

Sounds like a very realistic and posative change to me.

Bascially it'll be like suing 'spotters' in real life, if you see the enemy you'd communicate their position back to your squad.

So in this case you see the enemy, and after a while he appears on your teams radar (the delay like communication time)....i imagine as soon as you lose sight of the enemy again he will disapear form radar.

Will make it extremly intresting for snipers in some of the more open maps.

1: CS 1.6 is not as realistic and correct as CSS, in CS1.6 you can kill a guy on the other side of the map with a deagle and it kind of goes true walls and steel crates and pilards.

2: HDR and all the other effects in CSS are made to make it more realistic and envolving, if you dont want to play with them deactivate them, i usualy play CS 1.6 and CSS for fun and i usualy have more fun on CSS.

3: one of the most lame things about CS is that some (read many) matches i end up going to the kitchen to get a sandwich because 2 uber 1337 campers with AWP one from each team are waiting in a dark corner for someone to pass and you are there, dead because you shot a camping guy from behind 5 times with the autoshotgun at pointblack and the guy kind of instanly turned and headshot you with a deagle, the same guy that is camping. this does not happen in DOD .

Audio has nothing to do with this. Of course audio is probably one of the most important aspects of the game and I don't see this changing. The thing is with audio though is that you never know if it's one of your guys you hear just round the corner, or the enemy. Without the radar there is no way of knowing and it is this that really makes you a better player as there is no hesitation about whether to fire or not!

I´m making this comment by the fact that I don´t like the idea of such a radar implant into the game and fell that this is the only way to get heard, so I´m sorry if this post offends anyone cause that´s not what is it´s purpose!

The obious fact is that this change will make the game less depend on skill, since everyone will know where the spotted players are, and this implant will destroy the moment of both surprise and reaction / the real skills.
As a pure claner I don´t care about public and I´ll be fine if this will be made as a serveroption that can be changed dependent on what the local admin finds right for his server, but honestly implanting such a thing into clanwars can easyly ruin the game.

    Arguments used for implanting it:
    1. This works fine in BF2
As for people comparing CS:S with BF2, all I can say is "you´r lost!" There´s a incredebelly huge gameplay difference. (CS:S clanwars = 10 players in a game and smaller maps + no respawn while BF2 is for up to 30 players in a game with huge maps, vehicels and a half min respawn time)

    2. Will know where players are anyway cause of Teamspeak and Vent.
Umm "no you won´t!" Fact is that players tend to move, and then you´ll offen have players on TS and Vent talking about where they spotted the enemys the last time and where they think they´re going, not where the enemy is! (That meens that they´re guessing)

Final comment: But well noone knows how it´s gonna work for sure, but plz be carefull with it. Thank you for your time.

    It sucks, IMO.

    No, it really does.

Red dots for enemies. Red crosses for the enemies last position. smaller red crosses for dead enemies.

    It's stupid.

when i was playing CSS on my friends house i was almost turning of my audio because of squeekers, "HES HERE!!!!!! HES HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HES HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #$%#$&$#&%&$%$#%&#$&$#&$&$%&#$$%&$#%&&$&$&$%&$%&#%# <- random rude words".

as for this update, it might be bad for "1337" players like those that run around the map with a knife at a incredible speed, and jump around with an AWP headshoting everyone even without aiming, now i know were they are.

i think this does not show the curent position of the enemy, but it shows the position of the enemy as long as he is on your teams crossair.

and dont tell me it is realistic for a guy with a knife to run like he has booster rockets in his ass, "he runs lighter with the knife" were did he put the AK47 and the dealgle?

this can also be good for things like newbies and noobs askind were is bomb site B and bomb site A.
