    Just received an Asus P67 board and got a couple of simple questions (it's aeons since I built a PC!);

    1) What's the point of the little extender plug supplied that sits on top of the case connector plug - is it just to offload the stress of the various cables or is it to make them essentially "one plug for the lot" (pwr, reset etc), or is there some other purpose to it. They call it the "2-in-1 Asus Q-connector kit. The reason for it is not referred to explicitly in the manual...

    2) I'm going to use a Fractal R3; I assume I simply wack the front panel audio connections plug from the R3 case straight on to the Front panel plug pins on the mobo? If I do that, do I set the BIOS to HD Audio or Legacy AC97? Will it just work by default.

    Logic here is that today with my laptop it's convenient to plug h'phones in the front-panel for Skype etc, and then I'd normally take the headphone plug out of my laptop and replace with speakers for music (or can I plug the speakers in the back-panel 2-channel out and leave the h'phones/mic permanently plugged into the front panel connector for the new set-up?

    Thx.

    You don't have to use it, simply easier to connect all the front panel to the Q-connector kit then bang the lot in to the motherboard header instead of doing them one at a time! I did them individually to save a little airflow space from the bottom intake! :D

    HD Audio is fine. If you're lucky enough to have a sound card it'll be better off attached to that!

    If the headphones are in, the speakers should cut out. Although you can probably mess about with that in the settings.

    1) No idea...
    2) Correct, and set to HD Audio.

    You can leave headphones plugged in along with speakers, just change output device in control panel.
