I've got an idea in my head, but I need to know a few things before I move forwards with it..

Firstly, pop rivets... Can you get them in different lengths, i.e. can I get one to go through a 2mm sheet of steel and a 13mm aluminium bar?

Secondly.. Waterfall res's... yes or no?

and finally, when it comes to sleeving, are you all as bored as I am with this obsession of individually sleeving cables?

    More to come...

And yes, this is Watery rev. 3 Im talking about...

    1. Fixed

    2. Why not? Could be interesting.

    3. Together with 'twenty photo's of the latest hardware I just bought',
cable sleeving makes me reach for the Luger. :hehe:

In that case, what would you prefer over individual cables? I've been toying with the idea of doing what Langer did, in soldering a connector to the bottom, and running that to the PSU, so hiding all the cables fully, but theres a good chance of borking the mobo going that route.

It seems like you have most of the rest sorted - although just be wary that waterfall res's can be noisy, if they're bad ones that is.

As far as the sleeving goes, I'm tired of individually sleeved wires when it's poorly done  In all honesty, I was never a massive fan of showing off 24 individually sleeved cables in my own systems. People lap it up though, so I've had to do it a lot and get good at doing it to get the professional look. Honestly, I've done my best in all my own rigs to hide each and every cable and wire out of sight. They're all still pro-sleeved, just not visible when the baffles and panels are on the chassis :p

I have gone back to air cooling, so my views on any sort of res are biased. So I will keep my trap shut.

As for sleeving, I first thought that individual cables looked amazing, now I have grown tired of it. I guess it has had its time and the next thing will come in.

I was toying with the idea of making my own extensions for the bits you would see, and making them using coloured cable, so would just be bare cable like old school power supplies but only in one colour. I know it would essentially look the same style as individually sleeved cables, but it would be a bit different.

    Personally, I dusn't like 'em.

Nope. Until something more aesthetically pleasing comes along, I think they're the best way to deal with ugly cables :)

either individually sleeved or use solid colored wire and no sleeving at all.

Yep, soldering to the back of the board is one idea (I even considered this for my current
project). Piping, ducting, covers are things you can do to make the wires disappear as well.
It all depends on the kind of look you're going for.

    Waterfall res: doo eeeet!
Individual cable sleeving: Getting old. There has to be a better way. I say make an extension with all black wires and loosely braid them... Maybe two sets of braids to counter the width of the ATX plug.
