Tanken from CPC thread before the doors closed.. I am more than aware that loads of non-noobs are coming over from CPC forums, but I think giving them their old post count back is a bit well, bad really.

I know that its to stop spamming, but it makes it harder for us to distinguish between Bit-regualrs and other peeps, and i makes most of trolling in vain as well :wallbash:

+1. kind of makes publishing a postcount meaningless if it isn't a count of your posts.
i've got 10k posts over on reddit, can i have that added to my postcount here pls?

i see no reason to stop CPCers from spamming a bit to get their postcount up. how else are we going to get to know them?

    Uhh, I think that's a different situation.

Anyway, surely you regulars should know which of us are regulars and who isn't. Or would you like us to be segregated? Surely that defeats the whole purpose of the forum merger?

    Hey guys,

I can fully appreciate where you're coming from, but I'm sure it would be a sensitive subject if things had gone the other way. The CPC forum regulars have lost the forum they've posted in for years as, from their perspective, the rug has been pulled from under them - the removal company has come in and picked everything up around them, including the TV, while they're still sitting on the sofa eating their dinner.

As I said in my blog post on the topic the other day, we are committed to making bit-tech the best it can be as an online proposition for enthusiasts and Custom PC the best it can be as a print product - the editorial team is, in many ways, One Big Team now as it makes little sense to divert resources to Custom PC's website (especially in the middle of the worst recession since WW2). We want the CPC Refugees to feel welcome in their new home and I'm sure you'll quickly get to know them if they continue posting at the rate they were on Custom PC's forums.

    Tim

Maybe CPC regulars, who port over here, can get their names in a different colour, just as mods are in red. This way we can differentiate the CPCers from the noobs and make them feel special at the same time:)

I think if we started separating users with different colour names, i think we could have this colour divide we get in the real world between black and white people, and may create some sort of tension between us all, something we don't need here on bit-tech.
I think what we need to do as bit-techers is welcome the new CPC lot, and allow them to get used to their new surrounds.
I maybe speaking utter rubbish, but that's what i think colour indicating may do, i therefore think something a little more subtle is in order, maybe something under the user title like "CPC User"

Anyway, that's my view on it.

Egh, I never get why people are so bothered about post counts.... it's a bunch of numbers, get over it.

YOU ARE NOT YOUR POST COUNT.

It's a forum merger, therefore I can see why CPC should have their old post counts.
However, I also agree with D-Cyph3r in that it's just a number.
Either way it doesn't bother me.
    lols, Cheesecake surely.
