I'd be happy to go to Quakecon on a report for BitTech
I just hope they base it around the gameplay of counter-strike. i'm not keen on the fact they are making just the 1 game. Take the current 1v1 games, they are about 500times faster in gameplay than CS 1.6. Will be interesting what they come up with, i just hope its free aswell.
Seems like a strange idea making their own game, I'm sure there must be a ton of developers that would jump at the chance to make an "official" Cybersports game, why not comission Free Radical or whoever to make the game? Reeks of BBC Interactive to me, and we all know how Fightbox turned out...
interesting to see multiplayer focused game but as the article reads, its abit of worry for the technology its going to use... Quake3 is fine (heck, SplinterCell Double Agent looks bloody brilliant) but 2008? come on, that's pushing it....
fast and free of the usualy anoyances like dodgey hit boxen
'“Severity will be the first videogame conceived from the ground up to ensure the growth and appeal of multiplayer game competitions worldwide.”
Wasn't quake 3 designed purley for multiplayer and thus pretty much what they're claiming severity was first at?
i have my doubts about this game...
wait and see is all we can do
CAL was fun, until I came to the conclusion that competative gaming gets old quick.
Playing games for fun is much more enjoyable.
amen to that brother, as for the name of the game..... it wont work, it must be more simple or 1337 haxor CS players wont play it.
I'm guessing the point of the game isn't to compete with other games graphically but gameplay-wise.
I hope it's a duelling game - a classic 1 on 1!
You take your primary weapon - a leather gauntlet, and challenge the person to a duel. Then you both agree on a choice of weapons.
THEN YOU DUEL!
