Basically it's stopped working... it was fine Friday night, motionless Saturday morning and it's only about four months old.

It sits on an Asaka Nero and there is nothing physical hindering it.

Other than it being a faulty fan (do such things exist?) could there be any other reason for it to fail? I'm gonna try a new fan tomorrow night but would like suggestions just in case a new fan doesn't resolve the issue.

    Thanks in advance.

Most likely the fan as you suspect. If you're other fan dosen't work then mobo would likely be the cause but my moneys on the fan

    <Roy>Is it definitely plugged in?</Roy>

Seriously though, check the connector hasn't worked loose or anything silly like that.

If it's plugged into the motherboard, is it possible that fan control options in the BIOS are set too low, preventing it from spinning up?

I doubt it's a connector working loose as the unit has not been moved in the four months I've had it.

As for bios settings; unless they change themselves then it's safe to say that they haven't been touched.

How do you get into bios!!??

Press Del, while the PC is POSTing, generally.

Try plugging in a spare fan for a quick moment to see if it spins up. You should be covered under warranty for a 4 month old HSF?

A new fan fixed the problem.
