So I bought a new GPU and PSU yesterday (Nothing exciting, just a 1gb GT240 and a Corsair 400w but a nice step up from a generic 450w and 8600gt!)

Anyway, I stripped it out to give everything a good clean. I wasn't happy with the remount of the heatsink, it just didn't feel right no matter how many times I tried. The heatsink is loose and at least one of the pins appear to be broken and not fixing to the board securely/properly.

Pre clean it would hit 68 degrees on full load, now it's hitting 100 before it clocks its self down on reboot so obviously I've either not reset it properly or broken it or something along those lines (It's alright on idle/occasional spikes... It's staying around 50 degrees but the second anything longer than a few seconds of useage happens it shoots up so I'm obviously not doing anything CPU intensive).

So I'll pop to scan and get a Freezer Pro Rev 2 tomorrow. My only question is that it looks like a very tight fit on my Mobo with the 4pin, memory and heatsink crowding the CPU socket...

Do you think I'll have problems with the freezer pro?

    Motherboard is a Gigabyte P31-ES3G.

    Many thanks

Actually, reading This suggests the Rev 2 is a bit rubbish, so perhaps I should go for This which seemed to perform very well even against some much more expensive competition...

It should fit fine as for how good they are now I couldn't say the early one's were pretty good.

I would agree that the freezer pro isn't as good as a fenrir but I would say you haven't overclocked much if your using a stock cooler. A freezer pro should be somewhat better than the stock cooler for a 775 processor and is certainly a cheaper option. It handles my i5 760 no problem though I admit that I only kept it because not much else would fit in the case I oiginally planned to use. Its also a lot smaller than a fenrir.

I fear whether those coolers will be ok. The RAM slots look very close to the cooler. It may overhang the first slot and be really difficult to fit?? Both the Titan and the Coolermaster have a large vertical fan at the back right about where the RAM is.

On my (different) Gigabyte board, that design of cooler is fouling the first RAM slot.

I don't mind if the ram is difficutl to get at, as long as it fits I'm a happy chappy but thanks for the heads up!

I'm going to get the Coolermaster Hyper 212, the fan can be attached either side so I should be able to wrangle it in there without too much death inducing stress.

    Cheers all
