If I recall, he found out that fastwrites wasn't the issue and was still able to turn it on. I think he had some software issues or something at the same time, but the hardware was working. What makes you think L2 cache would have to be turned off? That's pure speculation. Cache is just on chip RAM, I don't see how it would be affected by a riser any more than anything else. Infact, SVC has a slot A to socket 370 adapter, and granted it's for older equipment, it does help prove a point. Just go ahead and try it. You won't know until you do.
one of my teachers... Id take it with a pinch of salt but some of the monsters coming out of R+D put out huge amounts of heat so they must use at least phaze change.
I remember that guy who was rewireing his AGP for his LAN Suitcase/PC (he won 2 or 3rd place in MSI case mod contest) well there were many guys on the work log saying it is impossible, but one was very intense. Anyways after soldering lots and lost of wires it worked. And worked well, he said he got pretty good 3Dmark scores. I wish you luck
Perhaps these folks have something in their list http://www.adexelec.com/extenders.htm . Try google-ing for things like "slot 1 extender", "slot1 extender", "slot1 riser" or "slot 1 riser".
I wanted an Flexi PCI cable and i asked this site and it was about £50-60 inc shipping .......... so i guess it would be cheaper to buy a socket 370 mobo and an old P3 800~1000Mhz? -Mortus
Just to clarify that is slot1 not slot a. slot A was for amd and socket 1 was for Intel. this was the big step away from each other and the socket 7 compatibility that they both enjoyed. also the crosstalk will be an issue, and there will be timing issues...
