What is the optimal cpu temp (in Celsius or Fahrenheit) for an AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz?

Don't bother trying to get to the optimal temp of a CPU. It is in theory 0 calvin as the thing that hampers cpu is moving molecules hitting each other. At absolute zero they stop and the optimum is achieved.

So as cool as you can get, is what you want.:)

    Allright, thanks.

I doubt anything electronic would work at that temp because it wouldn't let electrons move. plus you would have to be in a place with no gravity so it couldn't touch anything :D

I did not say that it was achieveable or practical, I simply said that it was a theory. Hence why peeps use vapochill systems, there is a point just before the electrons stop where you will achieve this optimium. The point is still the same - the colder the better.

i've generally noticed from reading on various forums that keeping cpu temp below 40c gives improved overclocking , and higher causes more instability when overclocking at the same clock speed ....

You're too quick off the mark, I noticed that I'd not hit the minus key - I corrected the post in 30 seconds, but hey :)

Have you over clocked it and what is the ambiant temperature?

no i havn't overclocked it yet. i have a ecs k7vza, so you cant overclock it in the bios, and im not even going to try to close the bridges on the processor. i can barely hold my hand steady enoughto pour juice into a glass:rolleyes: the ambient temp is 86°F (30°C) i forgot to mention that 111°F (44°C) is the temp when i have it running at full load.

14 C over ambiant under full load is not a bad figure. The coldest you can get is ambiant, hence why I asked, so the figure you need is what you are running over. What setup are you running.
