Hey guys, I've recently upgraded my PC on a budget; I picked up an Asus P7H55-M with the G6950 CPU. However, I've taken to streaming Starcraft 2 live, and the CPU is simply not up to the task. I don't really fancy spending additional money on getting a socket 1155 mobo, so I was wondering what alternatives are there for a good quad core CPU on the socket 1156? Any advice I could get would be greatly appreciated.
well the core i5 760 is the best imo but i recomend the 1155 the core i5 2500k is a beast and its only like 50 bucks more i believe
Your G6950 wont stream something? It's definitely not your CPU mate. I stream perfectly on an X2 255.
I would get the 2500k, as from scan, they're pretty much the same price as the 760 you mentioned. However, it would mean I need to splash out an additional £120 on a P8P67 mobo...I can't justify it after only just buying a new mobo.
I'm using an XFX Radeon 5770 HD for my GPU. I've ran tests, and it shows that when I stream live matches the CPU is at max capacity and I receive input lag. All other sources say it's my CPU. Upload speed wouldn't give me input lag, I'm sure. I doubt it's the GPU because I still get this delay on minimum graphics (outside of stream I play on maxed settings).
Well if you stream from some shitty website with 450,000 shitty flash adverts all over it then that might have something to do with it. Do you lag when you watch iplayer?
I think comparing iplayer to streaming a game is like comparing oranges to apples. One uses download (iplayer) bandwidth, the other uses upload bandwidth (streaming something yourself). I can view live streams no problem, and my upload should be able to hold streaming of about 800x600 resolution. But it can barely handle that at best. It seems to me to be the CPU at fault here more than anything. At least that's what the other streamers tell me...
