    My system:
    -E2160+ (1.8ghz default)
    -2GB DDR800 Crucial Ballistix
    -Asus P5B (Vanilla)
    -8600GT

CPU-Z is showing some strange readings for my system.

-Firstly It shows the memory frequency as 401.2mhz rather than 400mhz, even if set manually or by SPD to 400!
-Secondly the core speed seems to fluctuate by 1 or 2 mhz and has afew mhz added too?

is this just a slighty inaccurate reading by cpu-z or is something wrong here?

I'm sure thats perectly normal, my X2 would flick between 1999mhz and 2000mhz in cpu-z....

Yup, CPU-Z has done this to every system I've had, usually by about .4 MHz of difference or something.

ok, was just worried as it shows 401mhz and as a result suggests a 2:1 ration with the cpu rather than 1:1

But we can assume this is just an error in cpu-z? are there any other programs that show current memry setting i can check again?

for detailed memory info and settings you can also use memset (google for link), its pretty much your one stop shop for memory frequency and timings.

CPU-z can vary slightly, but the memory frequency will be down to your mobo not quite being perfect. My old NF3 DFI was very shaky at the top end with FSB's - 288 in the BIOS would translate to ~294MHz in reality. :)

    - I always believed this to be down to cheaky mobo manufacturers:
By running the FSB/memory slightly above specs (despite being set correctly in BIOS) it improves benchmark results, making it look faster than competing products!
    - My Lanparty NFII-B runs at 200.6 FSB when set to 200.
It's not a CPU-Z error - all apps report the same difference.

but surely the 2:1 ratio as a result of an extra 1.4mhz is infact going to damage benchmarking!

    I think that 2:1 ratio is a CPU-Z error
    - The ram would be at 200 otherwise!
    (I think?)
