Well um... my precious precious powerbook has developed something of a small dent next to the apple logo.... it doesn't affect performance or anything screen's not wierd.. but... I know it's there... anything I can do to get it out.... aaaand this has voided my warranty now hasn't it.... craaaap. Anything would be nice now... soo... helpeth please...
you could always remove the backplate and bend it back into shape.. if it was me I would just live with it and be more careful from now on with my Powerbook, oh another alternative is to buy a new back plait you could try Ebay for one, or even contact Apple and ask them how much it would cost you to have it replaced. (atleast $200 / £100 I'm willing to bet) it should not void your warranty however they wont fix the dent for you for free.
Right... cderalow... Which dent puller GOO... I was reading something about undeclared dents in the casing of the item voiding the warranty... moreso if the dent is in the area that the problem is identified (like near the funkeh power portage... knackering power or somesuch sillyness) I can't remember exactly someone said it was in the T&Cs so... I might be giving that a skim later planki... PB in soft bag near bed... me from other side of room chucked bottle of (full) lucozade onto bed... bounced in an unpredicted manor... heart stopped midflight... contacted PB... Thankfully... the buggering dint isn't affecting the screen... otherwise I would be an unhappy pinstripe kitten..
i'll have to try the car dent thing on my powerbook. my 17in powerbook sits on my desk all the time, so it never got dinged up, till my bookshelf decided to betray me and let all the books fall on my open powerbook. grrrr
Shouldn't void the warrenty, but it wouldn't be covered in the warrenty because it is "cosmetic damage". I got my laptop back yesterday for repair for cd-rw failure. I also requested the repair people to repair my damaged cover (superglue smear and a deep scratch). They said it "cosmetic damage" isn't covered by warrenty. car dent puller would do the trick - only if its metal!
I'm known around my college as the Pinstripe Kitten... due to my wearing a lot of pinstripe... and kitten ears... the unhappy bit you can work out for yourself..
