[rant] you know, there's nothing I hate more than a company that reliably produces crappy products... I just troubleshot my main pc to figure out why it was getting lag spikes and being a general piece of crap, and you know what turned out to be the source? a damn netgeat nic... I swear, every product I've ever owned that was made by Netgear has failed after about 5 months of use... ****ing ****ty quality assurance/control... [/rant]
Yeah I've got an 8 port netgear switch which is great, but all my NICs are Edimax. Last time I bought some they were about £5 each from tekheads if I remember correctly. I had some from ocs not long ago that had WOL for around a quid extra.
With netgear everything on your network (nics, hubs, switches, routers etc...) needs to be netgear or it either wont work properly or wont perform as it should. So in 2 words.. they suck
RCA cable modem is a crappy product. All you have to do is breathe around it and it will lose connection.
I run a mix of netgear NIC's, 3com switch, Xircom PCMCIA cards, and netgear wireless adapters... Never had any problems with netgear stuff.... Or is it the fact that I don't care cos I get netgear stuff sooo cheap through work?
I've got a Netgear based WiFi network and old Netgear 8 port hub, 3 different make NIC cards in the office, a Toshiba with built in WiFi and a D-Link ADSL router.... oh and my NIC is on board... all works great
