Added some new pics to my first post, thats what it looks like now. The moral of the story... Always wear safety gear!
LOL Fod Bruising looks real bad but doesn't hurt today, unless i poke my hand firmly. I should be fine by wednesday I think, it's only my throat that hurts now, feels much better compared to thursday night
I feel your pain now I'm hobbling round on one crutch like Dr. Weaver from ER (not having turned femalethough ) having fallen off on a downhill section yesterday, cracking my knee on the handlebars and having the fluid in my cartilage spill out into my surround knee joint. Though your bruises far exceed my cuts on my calf.
Looks painful! GWS! I've had my fair share of bike accidents too. Snapped two chains too but didn't do too much damage on those occasions. I always wear a helmet now (have done for 2-3 years or so) even if I'm just going a mile down the road.
LOL I never even thought about that during the whole time I was lugging you around. Your fall was totally awesome compared to my half hearted attempt.
heh, you and bindi comparing each others crashes or something? Get well soon to all those who are injury prone Sam
Hiren pirouetted over the handlebars, whereas I "flew" since I was going considerably faster. He gets a bruised wrist, I get a peg leg.
[sorry about what is about to happen] YARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! [/sorry] You make it sound so elegant, whereas I know that in real life it'd be far less elegant and far more painful
Bike crashes can be very elegant. Unfortunately no matter how glamorous or superman-esque you look as you fly through the air it doesn't make it hurt any less...
Damn right... My latest was a nice failed endo when I jumped something and found the ditch to the side... Everyone else thought it was funny, don't know how many times I'm going to get away without breaking the wrists or collar bone! Anyhow, more bikers on here than I'd thought P.s. Helmets, always! I have a relative who was nearly paralysed (roadie) when someone pulled out of a junction into him. He spent months in a wheelchair and is (to much relief) finally able to start walking again. It's either 6 feet under or an inch of foam on your head... By the way, DarkReaper, props on the post count, *bows*...
Thankee-sai, I would not have noticed that if you hadn't pointed it out! printscreen duly recorded for posterity... Had a lovely wee spill the other day when the chain came off my singlespeed - not supposed to be possible, that is unless you're me and don't take care to keep the chain tight! Hammering down on the pedals to get enough speed to clear some steps and the chain pops off, the bike goes right and I slam down on my left side on that sort of 'glued sand' textured pavement. Thankfully my glove and helmet saved my hand, scalp and glasses so all I got was a few grazes on my left arm - interestingly you can see grooves where the skin got sanded away, and lines of unmarked skin between them!
I'm thankful for quite a few 'could haves' actually: I could have come off two seconds later, so instead of just sliding along the flat I would have had a flight of stairs to contend with (small stairs but in the circumstances quite big enough) My glasses stayed on - cracking £200+ worth of eyewear sucks, I really don't like to do it too often! I had gloves and a lid on - scabbed face would suck but I'd actually prefer that to a ripped up hand There was nobody around to watch me go from flat out to plain flat for no apparent reason! The grazes are not even two inches long either, now they've stopped looking angry red it's really rather unimpressive. Compared to the glowing red of the sunburn on my other arm anyhow
Moral of the story Chains are evil they only ever snap when they can do the most damage only time i had a chain snap on me i was lucky enough to be going along a nice straight stretch of concrete unfortunately i was trying to top my personal speed record and had the chain snap at about 55km/h I came out of it with a rather sore groin section and a graze up my left side (think knee to shoulder and lower arm) toe clips Cheesecake (was too poor for clipless at the time)
Tacticus, 55 ain't that fast , I hit 65km/h regularly on the mountain bike... Kinda instant death if you screw it up at that speed though.
