Hi Guys - just wondered your thoughts on this..

I've got ivy i5 barebones system from CCL - its overclocked (bought preclocked) - and a hd7970 (overclocked by default)

The system works fine on 99% of my software.. Black Flag gave me a system crash -but only the once.. however BF4 a different matter.

There's no real time-frame, could be a few minutes or even a few hours (if lucky) - and then I just get these stripey vertical lines across the screen, total system lockup.

However with the new mantle drivers, everything is perfect.. runs smooth, no crashes. So I'm just wondering what do you guys think is causing the issue? could it be the overclocked CPU?? or a overheating issue??

run this HW monitor in monitor mode then play untill it crashes and check the log files to find out if its a heat issue.

Have you tried running a benchmark tool for the gpu or stress test for the gpu as that sounds like it maybe a Vram issue, which could mean the card needs to be RMA'd.

Yeah I know and you hear this allot at the top end of Games. everything els except: Crysis, BF3 and BF4 (There are more examples) work fine and rightly so. These games are known to push your Hardware to 100% for extended periods. Sadly not all 3rdparty GPU makes test this way. Hence you can get pre-OC cards that work great as long as they are not stuck at 100% for extended periods.

I like to refer to this as using a too small margin for error or for protection. Asus and Gigabyte tend to have this a lot less then the smaller companies. In fact for those two I rarely hear of this issue at all.

Set it to stock. Then try.
