I have a 120GB WD Passport (USB 2.0 Hard Drive) and I would like to walk up to a computer, plug it in, turn the computer on, and boot to the USB drive (if it supports it), then create a drive image of one of the host computer's partitions and store it on the USB drive.

I would also like to be able to restore an image on the USB drive to one of the host computer's partition.

I want to be able to choose which partition I backup/restore to, and I would still need to be able to access the USB hard drive from Windows. (I would prefer to use NTFS since it supports larger file sizes than FAT)

Is there any good software that could do this?

I'm willing to pay for it, since I would be using it on a fairly regular basis. The only software I've found seems to require me to install software on the host computer, which I find pointless. (perhaps it is just so it can create the bootable USB/CD drive for me, and they just don't mention that in the description?)

first off. this page lists how to boot of your usb drive.

Then there should be some wise guys in here that could help you with ghosting the internal hdd using some software.

I googled the info stated above and have found some disk imaging software for you too here which might do the trick.. sorry if im not elaborating the answer right now, but im rather bust and going to bed. Good luck
