I have a creative dvd-rom 1241e and everytime i put a cd in the thing spits it back out,i have win2000 pro if that any help to yous, failing that whats a good one on the market at the mo plz
I had a Creative 8X CD-ROM drive. Worst drive I've ever had. Noisier than my 48X Philips or my Aopen 16x/48X DVD, and a lot less reliable too. Never happy with ANY CD-Rs, etc....appalling drive. A lot of people like the Pioneer slot-loaders, but I like the AOpen I have. It has incredibly low CPU usage, and I can make on-the-fly copies from it at 12X (my CD-writer's max speed) without any probs at all. UATA 66 interface (which it is fast enough to benefit from over UATA33) is another nice feature.
Ive been told the pioneer slots drives are good all i want is one that will work, this old ones going flying l8tr
Don't ever buy creative cd/dvd drives as they use other manufacturers parts and keep changing them. The support from creative is poor at the best, I learnt the hardway with a 48x creative that failed within the year.
I got my old one of a m8 for £20 but with all the trouble ive had ill never get a creative again, mite try pioneer.
mmmm slot loading goodness i need to get a better drive as my current DVD is pants, when i start the computer up it vibrates something awful, has problems wiht some diks etc etc & i cant find anything about the company that made it, its a raite drive (mabey that should have tipped me off) out of all ot them pioneer & A-open produce the best DVD drives
I dont like Creatives drives at all really, having seen a lot of broken ones at work and ones that appear healthy but wont read certain CDs whatsoever.......... Take an LG, Pioneer or Aopen driver over any Creative whatever the price.......the Pioneers are excellent quality as are the LGs, while the Aopens feel less solid they are very reliable drives. Black Pioneer region-free slot loader = Neeeeeed
