Hey guys and galls. Your comments on the theme at http://test.jazzle.co.uk/ will be much appreciated. Don't hold back either, I wanna hear anything. It's a skin for the Sandbox theme. This is my second attempt at this theme, as you can see at http://blog.jazzle.co.uk/blog-dev/wp-theme-paper-cut.
The scissors are slightly off putting, try centering them on the lines so that they don't overhang the points as such.
Thanks guys. DougEdey - centre them in which direction? parallel or perpendicular to the dotted line? (in other words, for the top pair - move left or down?) sunnyg - the scissors on the vertical line are smaller, it's deliberate. Perhaps they should all be the smaller size. NB: the dots themselves are different shapes in IE and Fx, I don't know about other browsers - screenshots would be very helpful if anyone has the time. Any other comments from anyone are still very much appreciated.
yea, ie shows em different to most browsers. My advice... use a background image. The right colum is fixed so align it to the right. The header and footer is easy as they are fixed height so just repeat-x. behind the scenes is nice and neat... not sure about the indenting of the css code, but thats personal opinion and makes no difference. However! I don't like the textures.
the middle (white) texture is temporary, but I hope you saw that it is paper. can't use a background image without adding divs, since the scissors are images. not keen to use more images tbh, want to keep it nice and light.
Made it look like my screen needed a clean , but I know the effect you're after, like a quality wove paper. The main dotted lines look better in IE, finer and diamond-shape rather than square dots. Scissors an intermediate size maybe better IMO. Otherwise I like the design.
it's been really difficult geting a decent, obvious but subtle (!), paper texture. i'd actually prefer decent round dots, which of course i could get if i did use an image bg... glad it's liked.
there are some nice ideas there, not sure how easilly i could incorporate them into a skin for wp, but interesting all the same. i still need to look through it all, and it's on my todo.
