    Could give it a go!
I feel like I'm the bringer of bad news recently (bah, humbug, etc.) but anyway:
The only problems you might have is that the phosphor is designed to glow for a short period of time only (Oscope phosphor is relatively long glowing), and the shadow mask (imagine reallllly fine modder's mesh just behind the phosphor) might prevent you from getting a sharp image. The mesh is there to prevent the electrons from landing in places other than designated 'pixels'. Also the electron beam might be too narrow (it is after all designed to light one tiny 'pixel' thingy at a time). On an O-Scope the beam is wider (though can be focussed, this might work with this CRT too... un-focus it a little), and there is no shadow mask so you have a continuous 'canvas' you can 'draw' on.

    good luck tho

I'd like to jump in and bring some better news :D Black and white CRTs don't have a shadow mask as, unlike in a colour CRT, the electron beam doesn't need to hit discrete pixel positions. This means the beam position is truly analogue in nature, allowing for accurate and detailed displaying of 'scope waveforms. The brightness of these can be turned up and down and you may even be able to adjust the focus- therefore you can have the thicker, brighter beam used in CRT oscilloscopes. I once made a 'scope out of a cheap b/w TV myself and used it to display xy traces :D

Good luck mate, and even if it doesn't work out, well you have a TV shaped like a football. Perfect.
