I currently have a 128gb M225 which is going faulty, I have contacted Crucial after my poor customer service from Ocerclockers.co.uk where I it purchased from and have raised an RMA with Crucial. They have advised me that the M225 is end of line and no longer availiable so have offered me a C300 128gb. From comparing the 2 drives, it would appear that the C300 is a lesser drive. What are your thoughts, should I go with the C300, or should I perhaps get a refund and invest in something else?I notice that it uses the Marvell controller which I recall and have read has some stuttering issues, but have also read that there are potentially some fixes for this. SO id like to get what the user experience has been like with these drives.
C300 has faster read times - improved by almost 50%! I've been looking for a 3rd and 4th M225 128gb, but it seems that I'd be as well replacing with two new ones rather than 2 older ones.
Go for the C300, it's a good one - http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/storage/2010/10/12/crucial-realssd-c300-review-128gb/1
i'd be cheeky & say that, since the C300 is almost end of line, could i wait a month & have a C400... Not saying that the C400 is fabulous, but it's better than the C300.
But he doesn't have that choice. You can't just say to Crucial "The C300 is nice, but can I wait for an even better one?"
Whilst it's probably unlikely they'd go for it, if the OP didn't ask then there'd be no chance at all... ...well, it costs nothing to suggest it & the worst that can happen is they say "no" & he gets the C300.
Cheers for the info guys, I decided that I would go with the C300, even though the C400 is around the corner, the options I was presented with when I called back where a refund or the C300. C400 was not an option unfortunately, but was worth trying to blag it so. I will be happy to settle with the C300 over a refund so that is the path im going now. Again, thanks for the infos
Would not a refund then buy the crucial M4 have been the best option? Although having said that i put a c300 128gb in a mates pc and game level loading and boot times are just sick. Makes my sammy F3 1TB
