Just installing now..... Very much looking forward to seeing the difference! Just have to hope my PC doesn't start smoking when I fire it up...
That went better than expected - still managing 25+ fps even with settings on extreme. Textures looking really good now too. What's that you say? Another playthrough? Don't mind if I do...
is that hi res textures as well, and in motion, in a large fight with lots of fire, because the fact that my GPU OC'ed to 950/1450 is unable to do that makes me inclined to call for proof.
There is little change with the patch. certainly not worth the performance hit you take. And now there are more glitches than before. aswell as game breaking bugs. Guess that's why they call it CryEngine.
Slizza - Saves seem to be fine - however on trying it again then it kept jumping from full screen to windowed mode... wierd. GiantKiwi - I've only tried it for the first half hour of the game - I'm fully expecting it to struggle later on but I wasn't even expecting it to cope to begin with... (and when I say 25+ fps I mean mostly 25 with the occasional higher rate)
I bought the game over Origin last night to see if it (origin) was any good. The game was 20% off so I just thought "what the hell, I might as well" and bought it. So far it runs flawlessly in 1680x1050 @ ultra. I'm downloading the patch(es) right now to see what the DX11 fuss is all about and if my two 570s can handle it
I also found DX11 not to be worth the performance hit. But what really gets me is the cheating. Every server I go to has it. Not worth it any more.
I only had about 10seconds to test it but I immediately saw it had dropped the refresh rate to 60hz. If there is no way to change the refresh rate to 120hz, there's no point whatsofckingever as it will look worse than DX10 regardless of the graphical candy I'll work on this later tonight
Just started playing the single player campaign for the first time. Seems to run ok DX11 on Ultra on my 560Ti, I haven't bothered with the high-res texture pack though.
Is it just me, or do both upgrade packs seem a bit half done? Some textures are updated, others aren't; some objects use tessellation, some don't. I remember hiding behind a red brick wall and it was still as flat as ever. And as other have said, the hit in performance is completely out of proportion to the barely noticeable improvements. I have to say, in the original Crysis, improving a setting was fairly obvious most of the time.
