Hey im building a new pc at the moment with a Q6600 CPU, 2 Gb DDR2 and a(for a start untill i have the money for better) nvidia 9600 GT Overclocked edition I was wondering what kind of performance will i get from cysis on this rig considering that i have a 22" widescreen monitor and am planning to play the game at 1680 x 1050 Has any one benchmarked this game on a similar computer spec, if so could they PM me with the results please.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/03/12/bfgtech_geforce_9600_gt_oc_512mb/4 With the price of RAM now, get a 4GB kit. With the Q6600 it will perform very slightly better than the linked benchmarks, as i think the test system there was an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750.
I have 2gb of ram, q6600, x1950 pro. I play with mostly medium settings and some on high at 1280x1024. It runs pretty smooth, so with the 9600gt it will run fine at the slightly higher resolution. if you do get 4gb of ram like the other guys suggested, get 2 2gb sticks and not 4 1gb. and make sure that you have a 64bit os to take advantage of the full amount of ram. Although I dont think you need it to be honest. 2gb works fine.
Yes, absolutely not! I have a Q6600, slightly overclocked, 4GB Corsair Dominator, 2x 7900GT (overclocked) and I find it hard to get into many of the high settings without it slowing to the point where it is difficult to play, when there are multiple enemies around you. It is a seriously power demanding game! If you don't have a lot of money to spend, just forget about trying to get the amazing graphics you see in the screen shots, it just wont happen! EDIT: Just reread you post, I thought you were getting a different graphics card on first read, yeh, with a 9600 you will probably be able to do it! If you run vista 64, then try to get 4GB of ram, it will make a difference! Less so if you don't want to go 64.
I would suggest avoiding Vista64 and try XP64 first to save some resources. With the rig that is in my Sig and my 8800GTS 640mb SLI I can run at "high" settings at 1680x1050, but the second I hit some action it slows down a bunch.
You might save resources using XP64, but it's effectively crippled by not being broadly supported by third party drivers.
I have 2 gig of ram. a core 2 duo e6300 an an geforce 8500gt and i can play the game with most settings on medium and a few settings on high. whit an resolution of 1024x700
That's mostly because the 8500GT just is nowhere near powerful enough for a game as demanding as Crysis. To play Crysis smoothly (at medium/high) with DX10 you need a 8800GT MINIMUM.
It should be capable of running it at medium setting with out any problems. I am not sure if adding another 2gb of RAM will effect it that much. It should be OK as is.
I very much doubt an 8500GT will be able to run Crysis at medium settings... certainly not at anything like acceptable frame rates
here are the settings i play crysis on with my e6300 and my geforce 8500gt. texture quality high objects quality medium shadows quality medium psysics quality medium shadows quality medium volumetrics medium game effects high postprosessing medium particles medium water medium sound high I have made a little fraps movie and upload it on youtube, so you can see how i play it. here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lHDiouFWWI bye, toy_soldier
I get pretty great framerates on medium and playable on high with an 8800 GT with an otherwise similar setup. The 9600 is slightly less powerful, but you'll definitely be able to play on medium, and possibly on high (though you'll see some choppiness when enemies are around on high). I can even squeeze by on very high, but only if there's nobody around.
i'm riunning the game with a resolution from 1024x700 that is low but my screen is 17" so it lookt great on my screen. I think that it is not playable when I try to play in a higher resolution. And btw i'm running on windows xp. I have try it in Vista and then I must set all settings in low.
8800GTS 640MB, some medium, some high, 1920x1200, plays smoothly enough. Haven't tried my new 9800GTX yet
