Well, CPU and RAM-wise my machine is spot on. I'm running a 7900GTX 512MB too so I should be ok, will have to ramp down the resolution a bit though.

    Not too new... err... news.

My GFX card is what is recommended? Yea, 1024 @ max should be possible, maybe 1280.

I used Crysis as an excuse to overspend on upgrades for my computer, glad I did now!

The CPU spec is that P4 equivalent? So an old s939 x2 4600 should be above minimum but below optimum?

Thats quite a hog, though not as much of a hog as I was expecting it to be for such a game.
Surprised they listed the nvidia 6800 as a minimum spec card, and not the nvidia 7x00 series.

I was half expecting 8800GTX as the recommended unit. This is good news :)

I just bought a few new parts yesterday to bring my PC into the new academic year since I've left it rather impotent over the last year. I got myself a C2D E4400, 2GB PC6400 RAM, an Asus P5K SE and a WD 400GB. Paired with the 8800GTS 320MB I bought a few months back, and a measly 17" screen with max. resolution 1280 x 1024, I think Crysis should be playable indeed :) The purchase was mainly meant for The Orange Box first, though! Portal, TF2, EP2.. my first loves!

I think you should update your poor LCD and CPU to match with your 8800

i have a 24" monitor, (1920x1200), is there any chance of getting it running with everything on max with ANY graphics card/sli solution before christmas?

I really doubt it. Perhaps, if you had a 8800 Ultra SLi setup with 4-8GB RAM, the speediest C2D on offer and matching components, you might stand a chance. But even then, I'd say that is a big perhaps.

I think I'll upgrade the monitor to a 22" when I have the funds to, seeing as most are 1650 x 1080 which won't put too much strain on the system. Processor wise, I think I'm fine and dandy for now since student funding means no Quad Cores for me :(
