So I am looking at adding some custom LEDs to my vehicle for running lights and brake lights. Is it better to keep the LEDs on their own circuit into a separate fuse box/controller, or can I just tap into the brake light/headlight wiring?

Do you guys have any opinion on which kind of LEDs (below)

I am looking at getting different color sets of these:

if you make sure you use 12v led's you should be fine tapping the current lines, leds dont add much more load so shouldn't be an issue

one thing you might want to do is check the lighting regs for vehicles, as there is a good chance, you may fall foul of the law, and or fail m.o.t

Good point, I am hoping it isn't a problem since I plan on using them as running lights such as this (bottom leds):

i believe ther is new legislation that brings running lights into use, on new vehicles, but as always, it's best to check, where, how many, and how bright they are allowed to be.

be wary of using coloured lights, as current legislation forbids the use of blue/green lights on non emergency vehicles

Might be worth checking the input voltage range before fitting as a car electrical system can vary between 8v(on crank) and 14.4v with the engine running,.
