Surely you hired Tim S and his camera skills for the event?

well im in agreement with the results, have used all award winners except xigmatech and thermaltake and have been very happy. In Scan's defence have used their rma 3 times without a hitch, couldnt have been more helpful.

Interesting to see the differring experiences, I've RMAd two items to scan, both under 7 day DOA, both done without quibble. I don't *love* them as a retailer, but the experience to date has them way above the likes of DSG.

Only placed my first order with Scan.co.uk but it's been my best online purchase experience so far... brilliant website, delivery speed and tracking -even got a 1 hour slot delivery info -, packaging, customer support, RMA.

Considering that Scan are one of the biggest advertisers in CPC and on bit-tech it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that they won.

I've only had positive experiences with Scan, they're way better than any other retailer I've used. They always respond to my emails within a couple of hours or less and both times I've had to RMA something its been smooth service and polite, informative communication the whole way through.

As far as paying for your RMA postage fees goes I've never done an RMA anywhere where I've not had to pay for outgoing postage (to Asus, Gigabyte, Corsair etc).

I've only ever heard bad things about scan. Did they pay you to list them as a winner?

I've spent fortunes with scan over the past 5 years. I've had to RMA a few items and had zero issues, in the early years I also had to go into the shop to ask them for build help (some moments worthy of entry in the best and worst memories of PC building) and they have always been, in my opinion, outstanding. They are still the best by a long stretch.

In fact I think I am probably the reason that scan started their scansure insurance, to protect newbies from accidentally damaging something upon installation.

Anyway, why are we turning this comments section into a Scan whipping session?

    Yes Scan do advertize with CPC, but at least you don't get emails like this from the editor;

Dear Daniel, Welcome to today's PC Advisor newsletter, in association with Samsung. The new Samsung Galaxy Tab is perfectly sized for life on the go. Using the latest Android 2.2 operating system, the 7in touchscreen offers voice and video calling, Flash 10.1 support and is packed with services and applications, for the ultimate in entertainment and communication. Enjoy life without limits.

I received that yesterday from Matt Egan, Editor of PC Advisor. Subscription cancelled, how could I trust another review?

can't say enough good things about corsair.. you can tell their rep is hardcore look at his eyes.. nvidias rep of course reminds me of a snuffaluffagus trying to pass himself off as whoopass

ocz is pretty decent too though even though I got stiffed by them once

Never used Scan, but for those of you that feel burned by them I can say that Ebuyer are a very good website, I had to send something back which was not working correctly, asked for a refund rather then replacement because I wanted to try a different method (USB wireless rather then card) and they did it all very promptly without hassles, and they of course arranged the pick up of my faulty item.

Personally, I've never used SCAN or Ebuyer to buy my hardware, but I can assure you that the awards are reader-voted and those votes aren't even handled anywhere near the editorial team. In fact, the two awards that we could decide on went to two companies who, as far as I know, have never been big advertisers in the mag - Dell and EA.

Want to change the results? Make sure you vote next year.

Waffle waffle waffle. We have this every year with one manufacturer or another. It's entirely reader voted on a site independent from Dennis. Throw all the accusations you want, because they are simply untrue and will always be untrue. Perhaps next year rally people to get more votes for the retailer you want, if you feel that strongly?

because when scan got 2 customers wrong they shouted the loudest instead of the hundreds of other people on these forums who scan got right

i feel really sorry for companies when they treat thousands of people very well and on the odd occasion they get something wrong they shout out, so every one thinks that scan is rubbish because they treated 1 person wrong but they have treated 1000s of people correctly, to me that is a very good statistic especially considering some of the other online retailers
