    Hi!

I've managed to salvage a few displays that are ment for portable DVD-players, and connected them to the S-video output on my Geforce 7950.
Problem is, the lowest resolution Windows/nVidia will let me run is 640x480. With enough fiddling I got it down to 320x200, but I need a custom resolution of 480x234.
Is this in any way possible? It works with 640x480 and 800x600, but it's way too smudged to be able to read any text...

    Thanks for any answers.

True, but if you input 480x234, you get a "The custom resolution input is invalid" message...

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but I have the same kind of a problem.
I got myself a Joytech Xbox 7" TFT display, and though I think it has Svideo input within the Xbox connector, it accepts composite input too.
I've yet to rip it apart to try to get the svideo working, so for now, I've been trying to get it to work though composite.
I have 8800GTS, and although I can connect it, and get the picture -and colours after fiddling for an hour or so-, I just can't seem to get it to accept custom resolutions, or to work as a second monitor.

    Now, the problems are:
    1) I can't get it to run at the 480x234 resolution.
Powerstrip can't detect it, basic windows (xp) display properties can't detect it, and Nvidia Control panel, although I can get it to make an custom resolution, It doesn't show it as an option when setting the resolution for the display..
So, 800x600 is the lowest I've got it to show up as.
Anyone know how to get it to 480x234 ?
    And
    2) I can't set it up as a second monitor.
It works as a clone, but when I try to set it as an additional monitor, it drops my main monitors max resolution from 1280x1024 to 1024x768....
Any help for that either ?

I've never had two monitors, I've never had a display though composite or anything, so I'm kinda lost...
Help would be really appreciated :)

Even if you could add those resolutions, its not going to help since the svideo out is scaled up to 480 or 576 lines in accordance with the pal or ntsc setting, and then the screen will scale it to the panel resolution after chopping off an arbitary number of lines from the overscan area.

Your best bet is to find one with an RGB in and use the VGA connector, but it will still want standard pal/ntsc timings. You may be able to fudge it with changing the sync in the custom timings dialog to get every second line to scale exactly, you would need to turn down the number of active lines and turn up the blank ones to keep the timing on 15.7 something kHz horizontal and 50 or 60Hz vertical.

I would give it a shot but I walked on my 7" screen from a car dvd player I was going to use for the carputer and cant afford to replace it :(
