Hey guys, just about to start my first watercooling build and was wondering what a good thing to cut 3/4' OD tubing is? I suppose just regular scissors might work, but seems like people are using other stuff in videos I've seen Anyways, if you have a preferred tool let me know, and please specify where I can get one! Thanks
Any hardware store should be able to sell you a 'plastic tubing cutter' it is essentially a pair of scissors with only one blade, and a recessed portion on the other side for the blade to fit into. Look for it in the plumbing section, as they are used to cut PVC tubing, but work exceptionally well with vinyl.
Thanks! Yea I went to Lowe's earlier and looked around in the tools, but didn't see much other than sheet metal cutters. Then I asked an employee and he just kinda gave me that dazed "I drank the bong water look," so I went home empty handed. I swear Lowe's customer service is as bad as Walmart! Also it would seem that they have phased out latex gloves. I understand some are allergic to it, but I'm not and I hate how the others don't breathe GRR!!!
Something more like this is typical: http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/product.php?productid=9945&cat=1244&page=1

Cool thanks! I'll probably go back to Lowe's tomorrow now that I know what I'm looking for. Parts come in Friday and I would rather do it this weekend then have to wait until next weekend since I know that cutter won't come until Monday at the earliest
well known as a true multi-tool, ideal for modding and cutting the odd bit of tubing. also good for chasing pesky kids and removing the odd limb or two.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/kwssststtucu.html I got one of these and it's great. Perfect clean cut. Even used it for my PhD project having to cut through internally supported industrial tubing, still cuts well
I've got cutters that are the same type as those sold at Sidewinder, and they work pretty well. They give nice clean cuts. At Lowe's, they are in the plumbing section and are for cutting PVC tubing. If all else fails, one of these would also do:
I haven't seen the smaller one at Lowes or Home Depot, but they do have larger ones that work decently well. In a pinch, you can use a straight razor or X-Acto knife. Do NOT use a hacksaw or similar tool - it'll give you mixed results if not ugly looks.
