It's not even that he disagrees with the GOP, but that they mess around, say nothing of value, and waste everyone's time instead of legitimately defending their points of view and using their minds. He can understand if they're against the fact that $7 billion goes to this; He just wants them to MAKE AN ARGUMENT about it.

Anything the Dems try to pass, the GOP blocks. It doesn’t matter if they’re “for” the issue or not–they’ll find a way to vote against any bill pushed by Obama or Dems. And while this happens in both parties, it's mostly been the case with the GOP in recent history.

What will it take to convince congress that it isn't about their stupid parties, but rather what's right for the country. What will it take to make them think for themselves and make an objective decision and debate it properly, instead of just voting 'no' because their fellow teammates said so? Or will groupthink always prevail?

But isn't this the fundamental problem with two-party countries like the US?

If it's a controversial bill, one side will disagree with the other just to give the appearance of 'sticking to their values'.

If it's a common sense bill, the other side will just attempt to filibuster it to death.

After all, the party that isn't in power doesn't want anything good to happen while they're not in the driving seat. If, god forbid, something good was to happen, the public might just re-elect the same party.

The republics have made it quite clear they're going to do everything in their power to block (or at least neuter) any reforms under the current government. This way, come election time, they can stand on a podium and shout about all the things Obama has promised to do but hasn't done, rather than explain to the public what they intend to do and how they intend to do it.

Believe it or not, politicians aren't stupid. They know the best way to win an election is to point out the faults of the opposition using simple bullet points, rather than try to bother explain their own ideas on how to improve the country.
