My question is, how is the father supposed to know that this nude invader was a boyfriend and not some culprit who was raping his daughter? Was it that he used excessive force? On the other hand, is it all that common for somebody to keep a pipe handy for just such occasions? I'm surprised that the father was arrested given the circumstances. Perhaps, all of the circumstance is not being relayed in the news story. Maybe the daughter was saying, "Don't Daddy! He's my boyfriend!" while the boy was getting his head thumped. It never happened to me, but I always made sure my girl friends' parents weren't home when I was his age.
LOL ... to careful were you .. but it is a little ott .. personally i'd do the same. thump the bugger and ask questions later.
That's pretty ridiculous but also hilarious. Obviously he grabbed the metal pipe thinking one of two things The first "what the hell is that noise? oh god we may be being burgled..." etc The second "what the hell is that noise? I think there's a teenage boy in my daughters bedroom that needs a good beating" Also "standing naked on the girl's bed" what the hell? If I saw that I might think something slightly more sinister than teenage sex was going on, who stands up these days? where are these kids getting their energy from. I kind of agree with the dad on this one not knowing any more about the situation, if something scary happens females (no offence to any) just seem to scream and not shout "no don't he is my boyfriend".
That's ridiculous.. If someone came into my house without my knowing, I'd be bloody pissed off and I'd swing at that ******* if I didn't instantly recognize him. Heck, soon, when you attack the guy burgling your house, you'll have to pay for his medical bill. Pathetic.
Poor guy. It sounds like he did something perfectly rational (don't know daughter has boyfriend, naked man in daughter's room, ergo: rapist) - definitely shouldn't be charged for it. And hey, at least the boys entire town knows he's been getting some. That's got to be kudos for a teenager.
From the title, I had visions of dad with a pipe-full of glowing tobacco and bare dangly bits... Lucky dad didn't have a gun handy.
With hindsight it does seem a bit silly but if you caught someone that you had no idea who he was in your daughter's room then you would want to stop something that could easily have been rape. Add to the fact that if it were rape then the guy might be armed (somehow) or at least reasonably strong then I can quite understand his reaction. Looking at it from the outside, they should just apologise and sort things out. I am sure if the dad explained to the boyfriend that he was trying to protect his daughter he should be able to understand. If he doesn't like that then is he really suitable for any kind of proper relationship? edit: lol^^ cpemma
I can see both sides tbh. Yes, he acted understandably. On the other hand, does a naked mid-coital teenager pose a serious enough threat to justify that injury when you're armed and he isn't? If he'd hit the kid with his fist, I can see this being left as it was. If it was a serious injury, inflicted with a weapon, and the kid is the type to want to press charges though, I can see him having a case. It isn't as if we know the specifics anyway.
If his daughter had been on the bed screaming or protesting in some way then I can understand the pipe-violence, but seriously if he's just wondered in and found them about to do it that you just cannot justify that level of reaction. Didn't see a link in there, is there more explanation to the story or just telling the fathers side of things? Like how old is the girl and what exactly did he hear?? You're not telling me he's assumed a teenage boy has broken into his house, is in his daughters bed and is raping her without a little more evidence?
I think he was justified tbh, he walks in to find a naked boy... I would react the same... no one that didn't know their daughter had a boy friend would close the door again and shout through to appologise and ask if they wanted a cup of tea or something... Maybe its the daughters fault for lying to / not telling her father in the first place?
Possibly embarrassment. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,422181,00.html A bit more detail, Let's hope it wasn't a racing saddle... Both 15, technical rape in the UK but in Florida?
Agreed. He may have overreacted (a pipe is just a bit of overkill... not too many people have one just sitting around), but I think most fathers would have made a similar decision.
I think I would have kicked the kid out (15: to young to have sex imo), but my first reaction wouldn't have been to hit him with a pipe, that's not a justified reaction at all
