damn i can't stand it any longer...i won't start telling my story i'll go straight to the questions.

I've got a 80gb HD and 60gb are occupied by me precious files which i don't want to delete (and i'm not in the mood making backups on cds). Okay ..the HD as you imagined already is of NTFS kind. I want to break this huge partition in to two, one of 60gb and the other of 20gb. The strange thing is that i can't modify anything at all, not even resize the current partition . I tried the most famous proggie of all, partition magic 8.0 but nothin! The only option as i see it right now is, start backing up 60gb of data on CDs :(

    plzzz help

p.s. the hd is recognised by PM8 as a dynamic (yellow) disk and not NTFS (magenta) ! :/

Humm, don't know then. I doubt you can resize your partition in a normal situation (at least I've never been able to, but who knows). Sorry!

you need to make the disk basic again with the computer management mmc ..

right clik my puter and hit manage ... go to disk management, and make the dynamic volume basic again.

btw: only ntfs volues can be dynamic .. fat32 can only be basic ..

Convert to Basic disk using disk manager - clear internet cache and any other crap off the disk then run defrag a couple of times.

Then try with Partition magic 7 or higher.

If that doesnt work - get a copy of Superutils or other bootable Utils CD with partition magic on it boot from that and it should work fine.

Clearing cache and crap then defraging should make the process quicker.
