Suspense is King of Project Logs! Woo for an update, however small. Looking forward to the next. This thread is mechanoporn.
And now the images of the columns. .....excuse me for the wait. Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! See you soon for the assembly test images. Bye bye
HOLLY **** as always magnific work you should win some kind of prize for this thing pehaps a spot in the louvre or next to the david in florencia
It's rare that someone good engineering knowledge has the design flair to pull off an artistic master peice! You are a gifted man! Stay blessed!
Hey G69T, By now I guess you're kind of sick of all the 's, ::speechless::'s and 's. Sorry to bother you again with some compliments. What constructive criticism is there to give to someone who just delivers a modders dream? The updatepost just before your last I was wondering what kind of piles they were going to be, what kind of unique aspect you were constructing now. And again something I would never have guessed. Your work has just an undeniably high level of perfection. If you have the same skills @ work, your boss most be pretty happy with you .
Thanks all guys.. The images of the joined columns to the base. Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Z O O M ! Work in progress - The top of the structure case..... Bye bye
Amazing G69T, Still producing some amazing work and totally unpredictable! Not sure about your plan for the height though as it looks too tall, what would you fill that much space with!? I've also been noticing those supports that hold the main case on top of the watercooling section and can't help but think you're planning to turn them into swords. The holes in the top and the recess in the corners of the base plate are just begging for it... Please give us some clues!!! Keep up the good work and I hope your boss lets you take all this home when you're done - it must be a few euros worth of raw material you've got there! You'll probably want to invest in a van to move it around too. Cheers, Idyllic
Few Euros? If you everyone want do have THAT case... It s Like some people have said! 'Its a hole in the market ready to be filled' !!! Nice skills CNC god!!! Keep it up
This work is incredible! On your actual base unit, I think it should be kept silver because the contrast between the raw alu and the shadows look amazing. I suppose at the same time though, you may be planning on anodizing it matt black and adding green lighting to emphasise the gap betweeen each plate? Clue please!
Your fabrication is incredible. It's like your skills are imporving with each update....and your are the CNC master. I know I will probably be flamed for this but: If you intend to mount the new section above the water station, on those guard blades I dont think the design will flow so well. The guard blades are incredible, but I'm not sure the lower section matches the new upper section. Your new section is incredible with the angular design. The water station is just as incredible but is less angular and industrial and thats why I'm not sure if they fit (no pun intended) together. The lower section involves more circular elements which I dont think blend so well together. Keep up your amazing work
I can't help but wonder how you are going to mount the drive's in there. I would like to believe that you will stealth them in some amazing way to make them blend well the grill on the front, but I just can't imagine... And the side panels and the space above the IO shield in the back? What on earth could you do to keep them from being almost monotonous compared to the rest of the case? Not to mention the top... or the internals! My god this case has come a long way but how the hell will it be finished! And a non-flame response to zr_ox I understand what you are saying about the two pieces not seeming to blend together, but by making them so different it helps to distinguish them as serving to entirely different purposes. Aesthetically it's an amazing concept. If you've ever seen pictures of the comp. sci. building at MIT it's the same concept. The architect used contrasting edges and materials to make the building seem like several buildings, to make it seem all together smaller and less threatening, and to add interest. While it is less subtly achieved in this case, it leads to the same end. It keeps it from being too monolithic. whew, a little long winded...
I was thinking this until I realized that.. a) The bottoms section was also looking VERY industrial and angular until he made the columns and sides for it. I can tell that there are plenty of pieces missing from the upper part at present that will eventually be made. b) If you look back the bottom was silver as well. He won't be able to get the upper parts anodized (if he plans to do so) until he knows they all fit together and are finished. This may be what's adding the most to the contrast.
The guard and case height are necessary for a minimal proportional sword dimension. All the pieces profiles, the recess in the top and in the base, the recess in the frontal grid pieces on the external corners are used for swords passage. The swords or blades are used to lock the case on the water station. The guard on the water station columns contain the bottom of the sword. Look the images. Z O O M ! Bye bye
