    Well of course there'd be faction fights - you've got Communists, drug lords, Taliban, not to mention the normal intertribal difficulties, as well as the usual scattering of ordinary folks who want to get on with their lives.

    Add in the lust for prestige and power in the new government and you get a continuation of the same old conlficts.
    It's nothing new.

    No doubt it's handy for some politicians to save the facts for a rainy day. Oh, look what a nasty piece of work <insert name here> is, let's invade and have a regime change. Or grounds to get rid of any would-be competitors for power. :sigh:

    Did anyone ever seriously think the Northern Alliance were nice guys? War makes strange bed-fellows, politics even stranger. "If you're against my enemy, you're my friend".
