A good day of work. Painted in black the modded parts of the joystick and reassembly started. You can see the now added military switch cap. The painted front!! I dissapointed with the flash pics, it kill the drybrushing effects. I`ll take some pics with natural lights. The LIS2 VFD mounted in place. The blue squares of the screen are almost invisible without the flash lightning, and the screen remains black when off. Maybe the front needs some more details, What do you think? More soon.
The promised pic without flash: In this moment the front is being glued with Araldit to the chasis.... I would prefer screws, but they don`t match with the front. I hope it can hold together. The main work of today was about the joystic and its wiring... long wiring It isn`t easy to explain or follow... headache But the first test has been succcesful and the buttons fan controller and others works. You said wiring? The other half of the joystick is also plenty of wires. Thanks Mashie for the idea of the speed fan controller. A couple of pics of the end result. You can see also the keyholder with the keys for the locks. More tomorrow. It has been a long day.
I`m at the middle of the tunnel, the light at the end is closer, but still more work is needed. But for the LAN party of this weekend, i`ve done almost all work. The system is up and running. Near, my new TFT screen Without lights. The ComDome (hehehe... its sounds... jajaja) works very well and the light from the power and hd leds is blocked in some way to pass thru directly. I had to make this with stand off pieces to attach the DVD cover. Painted cover, with and without flash. I`m happy with the overall look of the front. To finish the day i`ve cutted a rectangular hole in the hull and added some mesh to allow more cooling for the 6600GT and others. More soon.
Front looks great! Perhaps you could make some spots darker and some lighter rather than just the same grey throughout, but otherwise, good effect.
Last week i gone to a LAN with this system. Before derparture for the last week LAN i did some extra work. Anyway it was an unfinished project but i didn't want it looks a ugly teapot. I need a hole to pass the fillport... Put some mesh in the side vents. And painted it with a mix of black mat and dark grey blak mat as first coat, after began to adding some details. With that half pimped shell i could go to the party with less red color in my face... Today i've bought a new fan. Since the party, the temps are good (for this kind of mod/system) but i wanted to cool it a little more and i've tried with a bigger fan. My choose has been a TT Silent Cat 92mm (Mainly reason: the 80 to 92 adaptor included) with a good flow and low noise. Actually the system is only 1C cooler But 1C is 1C better than nothing. Anyway the loud is lesser. Put the fan there is a hard duty. The desing looks good, althoug i have nothing against white color (its original for now) i would prefer a black one for this mod. No screws this time (almost not possible) so i used silentblocks. I hope, at least they avoid a little more noise also. Fits, but was hard. My first idea was to replace the funnel with the 80-92 adaptor, but the hoses make that impossible. More soon.
Nice Shuttle, crazy faceplate. Its starting to become my favorite aside from this http://www.pc-max.de/forum/article.php?&a=262
Thanks both. That white shuttle is really great and well done. I saw it (and that web) when i was searching ideas for mine. I hope the finish of this like you too. The measures are the same of a common shuttle (30x20x18.5cm), but plus about 10cm in long (radiator, funnel, front details) and 3cm in wide for the side vents enlarged hull. It still can be packed in its original shipping/transport cardboard box, ready for a LAN.
And i saw it in the Mashie's Doom 3 work Thanks. I hope you have some space more for a bigger rad. With the new fan the temps go down a little (and also the noise). Now i'm working in the hull. Maybe later i could upload some pic.
I'm slowly going head with the project. Now i'm messing with the decoration of the case. I have some ideas, but at this point i'm mind blocked or kind of. Tomorrow will be another day. A couple of pics of the work. The big hole is for better cooling of the case. Will be covered with mesh for dust and a sort of shield to avoid direct line of sight. Some of the inner lights will pass thru the smaller holes, than act as "windows" More soon.
Today's main work. i've made the "shield" or "deflector", any name is valid I'm happy with the look, it makes the case less plain / flat. And the gap allow more cooling. Inside, i've glued some mesh for dust. More tomorrow, i hope.
How strong is that wood? It sure would suck to have something bump the side and crack that pretty spaced out thing.
ooOOOOOo a post from the future, just realised that you were in Spain, i was a little confused when i saw the post date of 8-26-05 . neat mods, keep working on her and she'll be great
Slowly progress. One side "finished"... ...And the begining of the other one. It isn't the exact same patern that in the other side. More to come, soon.
