I think we can all agree with that, you have to admit though after a good few hours of getting stuff together you want to die in a hail of gunfire rather than to some bug or other misfortune.

 

Wow, the new rain effect is awesome. Finally got to see it working properly (visually) and am quite impressed. The rain looks great, and the occassional thunder adds some excitement. The overcast skies are really the best part. It's so dreary and depressing, you immediately feel more on edge.

I say working properly visually, because it doesn't seem to be transitioning properly. I have to wonder if it's not complete, or if the constantly restarting servers are to blame. Most seem to be set to restart at a set in-game time and effectively make 24/7 day, 24/7 sunshine.

 

Agreed I'm going to run around Friday night see what happens. If I get bored I have a syringe filled with an unknown substance I might just give a try for lols.

Currently can't inject anyone with it as I tried to see if the option was there on a friend.

He's on the hunt for love. I'm sure after a few pints deep, those female zombies look fairly attractive. Dom said hes found full army uniform in DayZ and is going to sign up to uniform dating.

 

Wow, M4 attachments and FNX mags are pretty difficult to find these days... :/

 

Just found three FNX mags over a couple hours last night, and .45 suppressor. The new spawns really helped to move traffic away from places like the NWAF.

any details on the next patch? any word of new loot and/or features?

 

As an alcoholic uni student in a relationship I actually celebrate when my bank balance gets back up to £0.

And yeah it's been mentioned I haven't seen a whole lot of M4 furniture apart from hella flashlights, and I'm not even sure when I last saw a .45 mag. Or a LRS. It's just SKS and SKS ammo everywhere for me lately - 147 rounds at the last count.

And here I felt like an idiot chopping at a shrub to see if it would fall. Now I feel even worse.

 

Thats reminds me, i found you a .45 mag yesterday so pop on tomarrow to get it if you can. As for the M4 the only thing thats usefull is the Flashlight of then the obvious optics, but thats if you want to play at night. i also found another LRS on the outside of the ATC at Bolota, maybe im just lucky, but i think we need to find some long range sniping spots for me next time we decide to go rambo. Maybe post me on a smoke stack on a industrial building.

And so the next patch looks to bring 100 player servers in from what i read on the forum.

Player reports from the experimental branch say that Electro is a warzone where snipers own the rooftops and unarmed players brawl in the street for "survival".

 

I'm going to give experimental a go tomorrow night. Will be streaming from 8pm onwards.

Those who want to squad up and just have a laugh I will be on TS before hand.

Great news all round then. I actually don't think I'll be on until next week, if you could try and survive until then though I'd appreciate it

The Elektro smokestacks are pretty obvious places IMO, factory roof on the coast has a pretty good LOS on both fire stations though. Otherwise office building roof has a perimeter wall which gives a bit of cover. Those are both on the south western side of town though and I guess 98% of the action will take place in the school so might just be a waste of time.

Anybody had any experience of player interaction in Cherno? That has a whole bunch of highly defensible rooftops...

 

Smoke stacks and other "obvious" high points for sniping were always risky in the original mod, can't see why it wouldn't be any different.

Sniper hill in Elektro was a slightly safer spot as there was cover if someone does start shooting at you. There used to be a good bit by the eastern edge of Elektro on the coast which was awesome for sniping sniper hill snipers, don't know if the map is still favourable to that.

Yeah I've rarely seen people there. Don't spend much time myself there actually. The lack of nearby spawn is probably the reason - there are places closer to spawns that are appropriate to gear up.

 

Yeah there are some good hills to the north and northeast of elektro however every fresh spawn from the east coast running down to get gear will cross the east hill to get to the water pump and stumble across you. Hopefully with the next patch update and higher capacity servers people will move away from elektro and cherno might suddenly find itself full of people who don't wanna die so much. Just a thought.

 

Are they increasing the amount of players on servers now? Will it be 64 players?

 

Yeah speedy and nihilo are on a 64 slot server atm, there was a 100 slot one but I'm not sure if it's still up.
