True enough LJS but this is a sandbox type game, you gotta make your own fun. Right now im thinking instead of KOS armed people, ill just blow out me some knee caps. nothing worse then a broken leg.

This, unfortunately, has been a problem since the mod's creation. It's made worse with so few items to get, but that's alpher for you.

I'm excited to see scars and beards and such to help mark how long a character has been around. Some form of "reward" for surviving so it's not all about having the best loot. I'd like to see a return of the days lived counter, but based on time actually logged in rather than real world time.

Beards and Scars are just in high demand. no word is we are actually going to get them. But of course right now there is little reward, but once this game goes gold we will have vehicles and base building. Base building by itself will takle up alot of time.

Trying not to sound like a Negative Nancy, vehicles and base building almost make survival even less meaningful.

Build a shack, stuff an extra set of gear in it, have your buddies come pick you up in a vehicle when you respawn. The body becomes even more disposable, as long as you can protect your gear.

Some of the changes have helped, though. Bodies despawning after 10 minutes really limits the ability to run back to your body to loot it, and the chance that it's all ruined any way adds to it. Maybe I'm a masochist, but I'd like to see a repawn timer to limit this even more. Or if buildings have some sort of ownership to them when added, respawning doesn't count you as the same owner. I'm already grinning at the thought of the salty tears that would flow.

well you may see base building like that, i see the opportunity to defend and raid bases other then just a place to stash gear.

I imagine they will put gear degradation on stuff that is stored. Leave it alone and it just rusts away. Makes sense to me.

That doesnt make sense at all. Maybe fruit but not canned food or other gear. Things cant rust if they are stored in a closed box not exposed to rain, especially indoors.

Maybe if the structure of your base was wood or metal it could rust or rot, but not the gear degrade for no real reason.

I'm keen to see what ends up happening with regards to securing access to player buildings, and the durability of them. My hope is that nothing is 100% secure, be it lootable or destroyable. Your most valued item should be your life, and anything you place similar value in should travel with you.

I'm also a fan of this for base attacking/defending. It was pretty frustrating in Origins to come across someone's camp completely undefended and walk away with nothing because it's all in houses and garages.

    Indeed.

Please don't think I'm putting the game down, I really do like it. 160 hours logged so far.

Although initially it is a stand out game experience, I'm also beginning to feel it lacks atmosphere. If you take a look at Nether for example, it really lacks in creating a feel to it which a survival game kind of needs. Look at how haunting STALKER is. This somehow needs to be injected I feel, but of course I realise opinions may differ.

Another thing I am worried about is that they just throw in a boot load of military weapons. The current weapon balancing is quite good, but with some more high powered weapons will spoil it I feel (few more is good though).

Yeah I was saying the other day how it would be good to have more lower-level weapons about. I've spent far too much time running around with not even a melee weapon to my name and it's a bit BS.

In terms of bases, it'd make sense to me to have the actual base structure degrade and require repairs/new material added. That way huge bases would be completely impractical to maintain and even small shacks require some maintenance in order to keep everything safe and pristine inside.

I think adding the rain effects added some atmosphere.

I mean purely to discourage hoarding and keep people actually playing. If one is very careful, you could hoard so much gear that permadeath is basically no longer an issue. It relies on a well hidden camp, but with the map getting bigger that won't be so much of a problem.

So how quickly is the development going on this then guys? Have you seen a lot of changes/patches/features since its initial release on early access?

I'd say slow but sure, things have certainly improved from the initial release. Content is a bit thin on the ground, they seem to be focusing on getting the core mechanics working properly; things like the blood/hunger/thirst, weather and how it affects your character, combat, item condition etc. I personally think that is the best way to get to a game that "works" as a final product, rather than like with BF4 where content was a plenty but many of the core mechanics were broken or buggy.

Patches have been pretty regular on Stable, if anything we have been spoiled in that regard, at one stage they were weekly. I've seen mention of the initial plans being monthly stable patches and they've been much much more frequent than that.

Well they've made a decent revenue of money from so many unexpected sales, so they can afford to employ more devs to role out more updates, which is great for us - the more the better!

Seems like we get new gear with every patch. Which is nice, it gives us something "physical" to look forward too. There must be a smaller side team working on gear then a larger one working on game fixes, mechanics, ect. with experimental right now it seems that there is much new gear but we got police stations in multiple cities and a new Medical station.

For buildings i think we should get new military buildings instead of just ATC, Prison, barracks. It be cool if somewhere near cherno or another large city to have a large dedicated PRISON added(like in the walking dead for example).

In general tho i think we need more motivation to move off the coast. I think something that would help this would be a larger city then cherno located in the middle or northwest area of the map that would include Hospital, medical station/hospital, Military base, appartments, ect. Just so it can be one big treasure dangling infront of everyone to lure them from the coast with maybe a highway to lead to it.

Although I agree with you, I think that once a faster mode of transport than running becomes available we'll see more players moving inland. NWAF and Zelenogorsk are both pretty good loot spots, it just takes so long to get there that if you were to get yourself murderised you might actually be annoyed about it rather than just catching another Elektro spawn and finding your old body there.

Even still, there are no major cities inland. All the major cities are on the coast(Electro, Berezino, Cherno). I still think a central hub for all players to work around and go to in my mind would be great. Even when we get vehicles, theres not much temptation up north because all the best spots are on the coast!
