Anyone know where I could get some of these? I am looking for ones with about a 4" stroke and powered by 12/24V DC.
If you find some post me a link. I've been looking for some for months and I can't find any site that carries a good selection of them.
Totally unsure of your need for these, but could you not make some up using a small stepper motor, some threaded rod, and a nut?
Ok what I would do is make a shape like below out of (metal, or whatever material you want). In the center of the crossbar, drill a hole just slightly larger than the diameter of the threaded rod. If you have a tap set, or access to one, you can tap the hole out and forgo trying to figure out how to get a nut to fit snugly. If you have no tap set you will need to figure out some way of "wedging" a nut that fits the rod into the hole. The motor can then get fixed to the rod and to (some sort of frame/case/stationary object) That way you avoid a spinning leg, and the legs will lower at the same rate. So if this is going into a case you would affix the motor to the front panel, and drill two holes in the base to act as a "guide" for the "legs" to operate in. Then using a DPDT swith you can control the UP and down of the "legs" One half runs one way, the other side of the switch reverses polarity. Wire it such that the "limit switches" break the circuit if pressed the lower limit breaks the descend circuit and the upper the ascend- heck you can even get more complicated by setting it up so the down only works if the up has been pressed, and the down only if the up has. Shape Code: __ Crossbar | | | | legs I hope that is as clear as mud.
I was thinking of something like that. I may use a stepper motor or two if I can get some help with the control circuit.
http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?UID=2003100222222981&catname=electric&keyword=EALD much more of a selection for AC. http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?UID=2003100222222981&catname=electric&keyword=EALA
That one only has a stroke of 1/8" too! How about this one: http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2003100222222981&item=5-1437&catname=electric Looks ok to me, 5" stroke, and mains voltage, 600lb load. edit - oops, I see you wanted 12/24v, maybe use a relay?
