So mat-ster was right! :) An interesting development isn't it?

I wonder if Tekheads in the UK will be offering this deal - especially if the Maze 3 is now obviously recognised by DD themselves as a problem product?

Once again, mat-ster - god of all things plastic has had a phrophecy come true! :D

*bows down to mat-ster's infinite knowledge* :hehe: ;)

Maybe that is why Teks have sat on theirs for so long. You won't get a reduction on the price of the lids now:p

Mat*ster was just too positive not to have been sure about what he was saying.

The Lucite cracks or warps causing leaks - basically DD took a gamble with Lucite instead of the 'proper' material Lexan (polycarbonate) which is much stronger. The gamble has not payed off !

    [smugness]

So glad I chose the Neptune over the Maze 3 now :D :hehe: :D

    My head Hurts!

I'vvv always wondered what Koolance use for their poly top's
"Designed for extremely high performance, the cooler consists of a high tolerance clear upper shell, molded over........."

This is moulded with the barbs - very sensible reducing the risk of a stress fracture, and the need for a gasket.
Downside U car'nt clean it, U carnt mod it (Led insert)
Does anyone know of a Koolance block leaking? TiTch you hav acouple of these what do you think of em.

    This got me thinkin!
The next design improvement will be overmould Why?
    Faster to manufacture = cheaper
    Plastic is cheaper than metal
Safer - less likely to leak
Intricate turbulance channels without CNC'in (only top bit)
    Angled barbs
Intigrate flowmeters etc at the block - it stops comp shuts down :)
    Lighter
Any one else hav any Ideas,

Relix I'mmm MAtSTER the one who likes Hume hehehhe

I predict DD will start to use a diff polymer (PolyCarb) probably when they bring their "new" block out, may be with somethin special like "glow in the dark" or UV reactive etc.

well then, I shall explain who she is

Hume is a race (like humans, spacemonkeys, ...) and she's one of them. She's a character in the upcoming MMORPG Final Fantasy XI (yes 11). mmmmmm...I really wanna play it...

*mat-ster* - nah, I'm just some bloke from south manc. I don't actually know you in person :)

Anyway, I reckon overmould will get more popular as watercooling becomes more common. I think that, ultimately, the best quality blocks (for looks and perfomance) will stay as the CNC stuff for the medium term at least- that's certainly what happens with other things like mo'bike parts and the like - the cheap reliable parts are available but all the high zoot stuff is billet CNC'd.... could be wrong tho'?

No one said designing and making waterblocks was easy. What ever colour make or design. We are the educated ones and perhaps manufactures should be asking us for our opinions first, before imbarking on a mass release?

    Sam

Are Extreme offering the copper topped DDMaze3's?

Errrmmm h8 to be sarcastic but, will it not be a bit L8t after it fails, will U refund all consequential losses!

Perhaps thats why you hav the latest batches, they car'nt sell em in the US!

Only Jokin :) Nice block shame about the poor R&D Polymer top selection, even if it was laser cut!
    Mat
