well, the i-pac in my arcade table is dead. no pics or anything, i mean it looks fine, it just doesn't work just thought i'd come in here and have a bit of a cry ok, i'm done now. move along people, theres nothing to see here //
Bad luck - I feel for you. Never know though, if you're lucky, it could be something as simple as the fuse blowing.
good point, i should have a proper look at it before ordering a new one. cheers for the suggestion never knew disaster mods could be useful
nah, i-pac. it's an interface for connecting arcade controls to a pc... and very nice too, until it stops working
Yo tit, any more symptoms? I *could* come up one night and take a gander over it with my trusty injury making tool, er.. I mean soldering iron... is it not under guarantee?
well i've not actually taken it out of the control panel yet. the light on it flashed like crazy when i tried fiddling around with it last night... a soldering iron wouldnt help much (i got one anyway) but a multimeter may be of use. i'll have a play with it when im a little more bothered, awake and sober and post back here it may well be under guarantee though so i might just rma it
Took the entire control panel apart, prodded around a bit, and now it seems to be working fine again... ****ing strange, but i'm thankful
tbh scorian it will take a lot more than just poking to fix him. Any idea what was actually wrong with it?
/me gives himself a diy liver transplant... I honestly have no idea what was wrong with the ipac, might have just been some random loose/cross connection or something... all that matters now is that it's working again though
yeah, glad you could get it working again. ive had things as much as CD-RW drives go out, and simply taking them apart and putting them back together has completely solved the problem. done it with hard drives too, but i dont actually take it apart , just pop off the control board on the underside and prod it a bit. put it back together and it works again. just because i work with computers doesnt mean i understand them half the time... . but yeah, cool that you got it working
no ****! i just 'fixed' my projector today... poking stuff with the business end of a screwdriver seemed to do the trick there too! i think i might have to become a repairs dude for pc world or something... my screwdrivery pokery would probably be quite successful there
