alright then people i know theres loads of these threads about but i wanted some more personal advice am looking to spends around £400 the specs for the computer ive seen are : 1, Intel E5300 2.6ghz processor 2, abit IN9 SLI fatal1ty mobo 3, gb ram 4, 250GB maxtor hdd 5, 512mb Nvidia Geforce 9800gt PCI-e if anyone can think of any alternatives or have any idea's of the best place to buy the components from i would much appreciate it,
2gb corsair ram 667mhz ram what hdd would you suggest processor £44.00 graphics card £65.25 motherboard £50.00 ram £40.00 this price comes well under what im looking to spend but am leaving alot of room for changes and thats why im asking here
thank you very much where were these prices from, i do not need a nase as i have a thermaltake soprano to mount it in, is there an intel processor and motherboard combo that would match with this configuration? thanx again
That looks pretty good - but you REALLY NEED more than 2Gb of RAM these days. If you're tight on budget, use the stock cooler and use the extra money to get 4Gb of RAM.
True, or just dig around for an extra £30 or so for the 4GB, if you had Windows 7 it probably isn't necessary though, the prices are from http://www.ebuyer.com ... Is there an Intel configuration to match this... probably, would I recommend it... no... am I AMD biased... just a little bit But the intel match for this would be LGA775 and not particularly futureproof with its DDR2 and end of life socket
tbh i wont be moving from xp for a while as i'm not sure some of the programs i am using will be compatible straight away, i thought the extra 2gb could be added at a later date as its just a case of building a more reliable machine than i have at present.
http://orders.ebuyer.com/customer/shopping/index.html?action=c2hvd2NhcnQ%3D how does this sound to you guys
bagman could you give me a spec of a machine that uses the intel processors and mobo combination that would be suitable, i want something reliable and am not keen on overclockin straight away and dont mind spending a little extra on something more, and i have a case and 650watt power supply so the £400 is for components only,
mobo http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus...x16)-DDR2-1200-1066-800-SATA-II-SATA-RAID-ATX cpu http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Inte...300-45nm-Socket-775-2x26-GHz-2MB-Cache-Retail cooler http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Arct...1156-S775-AM3-AM2plus-AM2-939-Up-to-130-Watts! ram http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/...PC2-6400/800MHz/Crucial/BL2KIT25664AL80A.html gpu http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-...750MHz-800Cores-2x-Dual-Link-DVI-I-HDCP-Ready hddhttp://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500G...HD502HJ-SATA-3Gb-s-7200rpm-16Mb-Cache-8ms-OEM optical drive http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Sony-AD-5240S-0B-24x-DVDR-12xDVDDL-DVDRW-x8-RWx6-SATA-Black comes to a total of very close to £400 the board i chose is one of the best 775 boards cpu because you can overclock it to 3.7ghz and as good as a amd 720 overclocked cooler the perfect cooler fo you ram from one of the best ram manufactures and has led's on them gpu pretty fast graphics card and it is the 1gb version hdd cheap but fast optical drive does everthing except blu-ray and hd discs
personally if ya planning to overclock fairly high id opt for DDR1066 any major brand will do just find cheapest. what PSU do you have ? if ya need to save a bit of money you could opt for the ASUS P5Q pro instead of deluxe it will overclock to the same since your using air cooling. that is if you dont need the extra deluxe features.
im not looking to overclock imediatly as i have no idea of how to i just want the machine up and running to a nice level, i have an EZCOOL 650W Active PFC PSU, im just looking at the intel configuration that has been suggested
