i would suggest you dont overclock and stress you machine with that PSU cause its a cheapo one im afriad.

i doubt it will be able to supply 650W of power, what amp is the 12V rail ??? as the 4870 is quite beefy and needs decent amount of amps

it will run the system that PSU but..

main issue with cheap ones are:

    1) unstable voltages under heavy load
    2) powercuts may result in a surge which kills your RAM, motherboard or CPU or graphics and most likely kill the PSU

i would really recommend you get a decent PSU at some point

ok then if i go with a CoolerMaster eXtreme Power 500W ATX PFC PSU at £38.00, and stick with the standard cpu cooler until i have some more money available or a i see a bargain, as i am not looking to overclock will this be a good solution for that?

yeah that should be ok for a 4870 as longas your not cranking out high overclocks which increase the power draw considerably that will do just fine.

£38 for cooler master extreme power pretty good price wheres that from ?

eclipse computers, i live local to them aswell so am hoping to get everything from they they are very competitive! now all i have to do is decide what processor and mobo combination INTEL or AMD and i have decided to go for a quad core to allow for the future proofing, but from which manufacturer

yes but that would mean going with ddr2 ram and staying with the 755 socket mobo, which as ive been told is coming to the end of its life! how about a AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition AM3 Processor

i dosen't mean the 775 hardware is going to all break it means that they are very soon going to stop manufacturing tings for 775
the e5300 is better than the amd 550 AM3

Your having a laugh, the 550 pretty much smashed the E5300 in most benchmarks in bit-tech, even at 4GHz, the Phenom was quicker, and its DDR3, a reasonable comparison would be the E7400 but to say an E5300 is faster than a 550 BE... no

Well I have no idea why that is, even the bit tech review showed otherwise...
