I keep getting a "windows - Delayed Write Failed" error message when ever i try to write to one of my hard drives. It is an Imb 40gb Deskstar and although i can read it and run windows xp off it but i can't write new files to it. My PSU is a little stretched at the moment (understatement) could this be the problem?

I have tried changing the cables and making sure that all the cables are in properly but it hasn't fixed the problem. Does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong???

    Thanks.

check your pci under chipset options or whatever for:

"PCI delayed transition" i think and disable it. If that doesnt work - try loading the setup defaults.

still doesn't work and i tried it in another pc and it would stop the pc from loading windows. I think the hard drive is a bit knacked but i have only had it for a few months so i will send it back.

i've had it happening to my 45Gigs 75GXP twice before ... guess it'll die soon ... too bad i can't try the ibm diagnostic tool cos my fdd is dead and my warranty is gonna end soon :(
you should check www.ibm.com/harddrive before sending it back and try those tools
