Was watching a fast moving dvd tonight and i noticed some "glitching" (maybe) where some of the image would move faster than another (hard to describe) but it basically looked like a few lines across the screen. (tis really hard to describe -- hopefully someone will know what I mean)

any one know why this could happen?

I *think* you mean tearing. It's when the screen can't keep up (sync) with the action onscreen. It's usually fixed in games using vsync - see if there's an option in your dvd playing software?

you could also try to change the refresh rate of your monitor
(using xp) right click desktop, properties, settings tab, advanced button, monitor tab, and the drop down box allows you to change the refresh rate.
(using vista) right click desktop, personalize, display settings, advanced settings button, monitor tab, and the drop down box allows you to change the refresh rate.
