    hi there.

i had a dell inspiron laptop delivered yesterday and it developed a stuck/bright pixel after maybe 20 mins and another a few hours later. i wouldnt mind im not a perfectionist only the first one is right in the middle of the screen and looks purple so on a whirte background its just dark and not that noticeable but on a dark background and in dvds it shows up bright purple. the other is blue and at the side so it doenst bother me.

does anyone have any experience of these disapearing? i tried google and that this can happen-only problem is google finds what you want not necessarily the norm

dells return policy on inspirons seems that id needs 6 pixels gone before theyd fix it

but if it doesnt sort itself out ill try my luck and see if they take it back

i think my tv had a dead pixel or it might have been a bright one but i think it sorted itself out

just wondering do they normally disappear?

Just say if you try and return it that you spent so much on this product and you paid for this product for no problems, and you have had a proble with it.

Isn't there something to do with the distance selling act that you can return something for a full refund or exchange within a certain time if you're not happy with it?

My current monitor has a stuck pixel that comes back from time to time, sometimes months apart, bright green in the bottom centre. Press the screen and it goes away no bother.

But, the first one I had (same Samsung model) had another, bright green, stuck pixel at the top right. I didn't move no matter what I tried, or how hard I battered the screen. I had to send the monitor back under the 7-days distance selling regulations, but I still had to pay shipping effectively 3 times to get my current monitor.

It's a joke really. Obviously there are millions of pixels on a modern widescreen, and ISO standard allow up to a certain number of dead or stuck pixels. One is too many.

5 mins ago i corrupted my hard drive on my old laptop so dont have a backup when i send it off.

My First Aluminium Macbook had 5 Dead Pixels when I turned it on. Went back to the store and just got given a brand new macbook there and then.

Thinking off the top of my head, I think I remember a method or program that cycles through many different colors on your screen really fast to force the pixel back to normal.

But I suggest just returning it for a new unit as more dead pixels will probably appear later.

I just received my new Iiyama 24" monitor last night. Hooked it up, sat back and smiled! COD4 was fantastic on it. But then I noticed a stuck pixel just to the right of center, and then I couldn't stop noticing it. I am sure it wasn't there to begin with.

Has anyone tried JScreenfix and had success? there is also KillDeadPixel which despite the name seems to be for stuck pixels - KillDeadPixel

The other manual method (pixel massage..oo-er!) I have seen on the web involve tapping/pressing it with moderate pressure to release it from being stuck. I may try the software method tonight first.

I agree with what has been said here - one dead/stuck pixel is one too many!

Color changing solutions don't work for bright pixels. If pixel massaging doesn't work, then it's bright for life.

Dell warranty for Inspiron laptop monitors states that only 6 bright pixels (or above) qualify for replacing the laptop (if it happens within the 3-year warranty time). Latitude and XPS laptops will be changed after only 1 bright pixel (or 6 dark pixels).
