I gonna be getting my first water cooling kit in the next few weeks. The thing is, I'm not 100% sure how I will set things up. I think you should use demineralised water for the coolant.

Would it be a bad idea to use ordinary water when I'm just testing the set up?

The reason is becuase I'm in two minds as to whether a) I'm gonna build a custom perspex case or not, and b) if I do build a custom case, how it will be layed out.

If I go the custom route, I see myself doing lots of moving things about.

Distilled water is cheap. I would use it even during testing. That's just my thought on the subject.

yeh always try and use distilled water where possible. if you did use tap water whilst testing then make sure you completely flush it out with distilled water beofre use. but still i would not recommend use of tap water for any length of time as your blocks and such can quickly become filled with nasty deposits of grime.

Do not use CLR to clear out copper blocks, its on the label. You can get distilled water very very cheaply at most pharmacy/supermarket/etc. Cheap insurance I think :)

    Many thanks.

If things go according to plan, you'll see a lot more of me asking more n00by WC questions.

    :)
